You know that one kid? of course you do, most of you were that kid I'm sure. The one that is not quite "normal", and knows it, and everybody else knows too. something is wrong with you and having to deal with that on top of how scary and confusing the world is can be too much for a little kid.
I love kids and I have always been great with them, I was a preschool teacher until I realized it was too stressful, now I'm looking into being a special education aide, hoping to work with autistic kids.
That was me. Hello my name is Stephanie. I am 26 years old. Currently self-diagnosed (a fairly recent revelation), but absolutely certain, I just have no resources to get evaluated. Looking back on my childhood, it mystifies me that nobody said "hey, somethings not right here" all the sounds, the stimming, the apparent inability to speak fluently with people my own age, the age inappropriate "tantrums"(read- meltdowns). I finally confronted my mom about it, told her what was going on, and after she did her research she came to me and apologized for not seeing it sooner.
So yeah that's me, hi. I look forward to meeting all of you
