Ok. So here I am. I'm a 56 year old swede that have had my autism diagnosis for abt 8 years now but it has been a tough way understanding my autistic traits. The last year has been full of break thrues, but some parts are still enigmas for me.
I work half time as a museum assistant, have been married for 36 years and got one daughter - 28 yars probably autist like me. Regarding interests I'm usually deep diving into an interest at a time but got some I change between. I read a lot. It would take some pages to sum up my collection of theoretics I'm into one at a time usually for some months. Some examples is personality psychology, genetics, religion psychology, entomology, genealogy, computer science, philosophy, ecology...
I've survived two types of cancer (got an ostomy from one and in hormonal treatment for the other) , one bad car accident, meningitis, and being bipolar (one big breakdown 25 years ago). I'm lucky to be alive.
I also enjoy photography, especialy makro searching for insects and other more or less furry critters.
I also read a lot of sci-fi, horror and fantay. And a good amount of comics added to that.
My brain is usually at full speed. Ok. So this was a lot. Typical me having hard times to shorten stuff.

Welcome. I share your interest in insects and do macroinvertebrate collecting on rivers and then identify them to the family level and score them for a measure of stream quality.

Hi and welcome. You have some great interests, I think! I hope you enjoy it here and find it useful and supportive.

Well, I come close to that collecting macroinvertebrates as I used to do inventory of sweet water clams in our rivers here on the west coast of Sweden (Halland). Used to walk in the rivers counting and doing health evaluations on especially Margaritifera margaritifera as that clam also have cultural values. Had to stop due to bad back.

It is interesting, isn't it. This October 7 I will be getting out on a river near me with a couple of friends who enjoy helping. Last year we were at a site when a group of kayakers landed and were interested in what we were doing and we explained and showed them some notable finds. As we were leaving they invited us to lunch. They were grilling hot dogs and had beans and potato chips. That was nice.

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” (W. Blake)

I think of this saying in perspective of being an autistic. Wonder what he could have learnt by meeting us?
