NTs vs. Dolby

Just experienced another example of neurotypicals confusing and slightly irritating me. Dont get me wrong, I obviously have nothing against NTs since my entire family, all my friends and every girl Iv dated has been a neurotypical. But I think we've all had moments where we get soooo frustrated.

A phone conversation with my ex-girlfriend Lisa 10 minutes ago.

Lisa - "So I heard your truck is broken down. Want some help to get her back on the road?"
Me - "No thanks, I just got a shot vice on my radiator hose. Only dripping a bit of coolant."
Lisa - "Oh. Are you going to fix it?" <--- (What the hell?)
Me - "Nope. I'm just gonna drive around until I run out of coolant and my headers warp so I get to spend $1,500 on a new engine." (Heavily rude sarcasm)

Ok so I was already frustrated before she called, and I realize I was very rude. I apologized and shes already happy with me again. But seriously, "Are you going to fix it?" I obviously am. She knows I am. So why did she want to ask? I dont understand. With all due respect to NTs, I honestly think they sometimes say things just for the pure pleasure of saying things.

If she'd be an aspie she'd probably say

"Oh... did you save that much money for a new engine already?"

But yeah, sometimes I do not understand those kind of semi-rhetorical questions either.

Well,

Not to favor her, but many may decide this truck has so many problems and now this I am going to trade it in on something else? The other possible response is "Are You Going To Fix It" meaning take it to a shop and have a professional do it rather than yourself hence not needing her help. But she could have said, are you going to take it to a shop?

Yes, NT's like to state the obvious.

She might even mean by "Are you Going to Fix It" that is will be fixed before she could come over and help.

Personally, I find phone conversation awkward, it might come off different if you were face to face. It is easy to think of alternatives, but honestly, I can't think fast on my feet. But if I sit back I can think of all kinds of excuses, pardon me maybe it has to do with studying too much philosophy?

I see your point but she knows that I dont plan on selling that truck for a long time. And for your other reason, she and I never take our trucks or muscle cars to shops. We just fix them up ourselves. But your other reason (her implying that Ill need help) makes a bit more sense. She loves spending time with me working on our cars/trucks. In fact, while we were together we spent 3 Friday "date nights" installing a blower in her '72 Charger.

Redneck romance

See

I think it is hard for her to say I just want to hang out with you. And she might be looking for a reason to do just that? Many may not see it but installing a blower, now that is romantic. I love it. I have had girl friends, and I have had girls that were never serious and we spent time together after she would break up with some boy. Relationships are not easy. But I have throughly enjoyed the ones where the girls is more like a sister to me.

Yeah, I suppose that might be an excuse for us to spend time together. I know she misses but but at the same time she knows I really dont want to try a relationship with her again (she constantly tried to sabatoge my job, "for my safety", entirely different issue)

But then again, she is kinda of ditzy. She's very smart but no common sense. I always thought it was adorable when we were together but sometimes it led into fights, like the subject of this post lmao. It was probably her ditziness that makes her say things like that
