Oasis Story: If You Breathe In With Me

The betta spirit and her young friend drifted in through the cave entrance, her blue glow showing the way to a series of bead curtains that acted as a door through the nightly darkness. Nighttime in the Oasis is never threatening, unsettling or any form of fearful; just quiet, sleepy.

"Now, remember to keep your voice down. Others are sleeping over. I had some other visitors today."

The young man nodded in agreement as Aloe took him to a more secluded corner of the den; the soft glow of projected light ripples and energetic crystal flooring was the only illumination and it was more than enough. Aloe likes her guests to be relaxed when they visit.

"Over here" she whispered, gesturing at a fairly-sized, air-mattress-like bed made from what appeared to be expanded anemone "cotton" and pillows Aloe had sown out of 'microscales'; tiny, powder-like masses of scales simmered on the surface of the Oasis' waters, near the northern springs. They shrink from the heat and their numerous sizes allow them to be condensed into a powder like substance that can be made into anything from cloth to medicine components, like the chalk needed to make pills (Aloe herself makes these sometimes, she likes to treat people in a natural way)

"A bed? But if everyone else is in sleeping bags, who's this bed for?" Tyler asked.

Aloe smiled wide. "It's for you. Go ahead..."

Tyler sat on the bed and centered himself on it. It only took a second for him to realize how soft it was; it wasn't like a cat's fur, chenille from the underneath of a weighted blanket, or anything that could be called "soft". It was a softness the melted the mind and caused a floating sensation; you didn't just float or meditate with Aloe, rather you actually fell into an astral state of aether-like shifting. Aloe is a healer of the parts of one's body and mind that earthen doctors and practitioners of medicine can't or don't treat. Aloe treats your illnesses at the core, not just the surface or the membranes of it.

"Now" Aloe started, "I want you to think of an animal you have always wanted to see... One from your childhood... You went to a place that was just like this on Earth once, and you saw one animal there that you were so drawn to, so enthralled by.... Its memory is there, I promise. Think, Tyler... Think and reach for it..."

Tyler's third eye vibrated and pulsed, and soon, he began to see just what it was.

It was a dolphin.

"Dolphin...!" Tyler yelped, almost shouting

"Aloe smiled wider and chuckled. "Look down..."

So he did...

He saw a long, gray tail.
