Overwhelming Having A Large Family

The Penguin

Chilly Willy The Penguin
I found it overwhelming having a large family on both side of the family. For my parents wedding alone I heard there was at least 200 people. An average family event might contain 40 people or more. I still don't know most of my family members names.

I hate attending family events as I'm not a social person and it ends up me being alone for most of the event. After attending a funeral some weeks ago, I decided should I attend family events in the future, I will only join for 2 hours.

Note my focus in life is not how to make things better with family. Instead is working on my own happiness and find a person I can enjoy this with.

What I hate about having a large family, is how little the support is. I am the eldest of 5 and tons of other family members and yet, only in communication with one sister and even that is haphazard.

Well, in truth, never thought about it to that extent, because at a fairly early age, I learned to lose the sentimental ties and so, what means a family to me, is not always blood related and as for all those family gatherings that I had to attend, wow, glad that is all over!

I have a large family as well. I'm the oldest of 7. I honestly don't know how id react now around everyone all at once now days. I enjoyed it when I as younger, as there was never a boring time to be had.
