Paqui "One Chip Challenge" 2022?

For those that are into eating spicy foods. If you're a "chili-head" (ie chili peppers). Have you taken the "One Chip Challenge" this year and eaten the single Paqui chip for 2022?

If you're not aware, it's a gimmick produced by a corn chip company. It's a single corn chip in a coffin shaped box. I've never taken the challenge before today. The product was never available in my area. I saw them at the grocery store today and didn't think twice about buying one. It cost $4.99 USD for that single corn chip. However....I noticed in the various written content inside that the product comes with a coupon for a free full sized bag of Paqui corn chips which cost that much. The current year's chip has blue dye on it which I'm not a fan of. The reason for the dye is to supposedly show people around you that you ate the chip (by the color of your tongue) rather than trying some sleight of hand or something.

The "challenge" is to eat the chip and try to refrain from drinking any liquid or eat anything else to attempt to cool down the heat. If you make it a whole hour without food or drink, then you're the ultimate or something.

Apparently the spiciness is rated at 2 million Scoville Units. So...how spicy was it for me? I liked it because it was actually spicy. Too spicy to handle? No. It felt good. I know something is spicy to me when the area around my eyes starts to sweat a bit. It also kicked out a bit of an endorphin rush for me. I waited about 15 minutes without food or drink. I didn't wait longer than that; not because I couldn't have, but because waiting longer would have impeded my routine of having my evening cup of tea.

I have tried full sized bags of the same company's "Ghost Pepper Chips" and I found them disappointing because they're not very spicy to me. This "One Chip" is noticeably spicier than their Ghost Pepper chips.

After taking this challenge I wish the company made the same chip available in bags and without the blue dye. I'd buy them. I wouldn't have handfuls at a time, but one handful in a short period? Yes I would.

****UPDATE FOR FULL DISCLOSURE****** No, I wouldn't want to eat multiples of these chips. I sailed through the "challenge" itself just fine. I felt just fine for a few hours afterward and then...my stomach felt terrible. I drank a bit of milk which helped...for about twenty minutes then back to terrible. I figured I'd ride it out. Nope. There was no way to stop it. My stomach revolted and insisted that the contents be purged. I can't even remember the last time I barfed. Bummer.

Whoa, you can now impress the bros by saying you just had a super hot experience, and not offer any context outside of that.

When l was younger, my parents would sit down and have chili pepper face off contests. They each would grab a pepper and see who could last the longest.

I've heard of this. I think my step-son has done this challenge in the past. He did this challenge last year in front of his students, I believe, along with another teacher. I think they had a great amount of fun but I don't think he'll be doing that again any time soon. I'll have to ask if he's doing it this year.

I get a full flavor profile out of plain grits, so this isn't my cup of tea.

I think these challenges are stupid and ridiculous. Eating something that causes excruciating pain, discomfort, and possible injury just so you can brag about it later. If your tongue hasn't been burned off. What's next, swallowing live porcupines? Eating walnuts while they're still in the shell? I'm not "brave", I just don't want to end up having to drink everything through a straw.

Did you know there were even more pointless “challenges” like the fire challenge, the cinnamon challenge, and the salt and ice challenge?
