Vulnerable autistic man lured from his home and beaten up | Daily Mail Online

Police are hunting for a gang of thugs with their faces covered who battered an autistic man after luring him out for a pre-planned beating.

Joel Buckle was left with a broken nose and scratches and bruises all over his face.

The 27-year-old was lured out of his flat by a group of hooded yobs calling his name and asking him to come out of his home in Burntwood, Staffordshire, at around 11.30pm on Monday.

The supermarket worker, who lives alone, went outside to see what they wanted and they beat him up.

His younger sister Leah, who posted pictures of her brother's injuries online, said: 'It is absolutely heartbreaking for our family and of course for Joel.

'He does struggle socially because of his autism sometimes but everyone in the community knows him as loveable and friendly, he is a good person.

'They were calling him names trying to get him to come outside which eventually he did.

'It hurts to know that this would have been a planned attack, they knew his name and I just don't understand why this would happen.

'Joel has autism and learning difficulties and this was obviously a pre-planned attack.

'It is disgusting what they have done and they need to be caught.

'He is bruised and shocked and shaky and upset and his face has swollen up like a balloon.

'I have been in contact with Joel a lot while he has been in hospital and of course while he is very upset about what happened, there has been an amazing amount of goodwill come his way and he really does appreciate it.

'There have been some beautiful gestures, including one person who offered him free kickboxing classes so he can defend himself.

'I want these people caught. He was attacked by four males who had their faces covered. He thinks they are in their late teens or early 20s and he saw that one had ginger hair.

'Someone must know something. You can't help but feel disappointed in the human race.'
