Please requesting assistance in finding child care provider in HOUSTON

Hello all,
First, I am so comforted to join this community, and am looking forward to finding a community as support, sharing information, and friendships! I am hoping that some of you can help me, as we moved here from Austin, and have had a huge challenge in finding an in home child care provider for my two children, ages 8 and 11. I have only had two long term "nannies," and they came to me like angels. In Houston, I have called the major agencies, posted on care.com, and my friends and network do not have children who have special needs, so they can not refer anyone to me. Both of my boys have ADHD, social pragmatic challenges, and when Aspergers was in the DSM, they were both diagnosed with this. However, they are mainstreamed in school, incredibly bright, but need someone who is knowledgeable about these issues. Does not have to be an expert by any means! Any help, referrals, or possibly asking your provider if they know anyone, would be BEYOND appreciated. I am divorced, work part-time, and having a "right arm" is so needed for them, and myself. Much gratitude in advance! My email is [email protected]

Have you yet gone to the schools your children attend and asked if there are any special programs or accommodations that they might qualify for? Most public school systems have such programs, and that might be a good place to start. If not, you could see if you could find some resources through the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, NAMI, or other organizations.

Best of luck...and welcome!

Both of my children have accommodations at their public school, yet am seeking in home help that is a qualified "nanny," but more in that I want him/her to help them learn, and thrive! Have had the biggest challenge finding this "right arm" in Houston, as I have only had two caregivers and my eldest is 11.
