Post-vacation crash.

Metalhead

Video game and movie addict. All for gay pride.

After spending two weeks with two very good friends, I am back at my job and back at spending my afternoons and weekends home alone. I really need to learn how to drive. I wish I had more people to hang with since all of my local friends are far too busy to hang with me on a regular basis. I spent two weeks with out-of-town friends and had an absolute blast. Now I am feeling a bit of a crash when the usual reality returns.

I spent more money than I should have today buying movies. That is a danger sign for me that things are not going well.

Hell, do any of you want to come over this weekend and have a movie marathon with me? Or do any of you want to go out and listen to a live band with me this weekend?

I need a wider social network ASAP.

This probably would not be so bad if I did not pull a muscle in my back earlier today while taking care of the weeds in my lawn.

I have quite a bit of PTO saved up. Perhaps I could stash most of my income for a couple of months and plan a solo vacation to Portland, and hit the museums and gardens there. The hotel will be the most expensive part of that, after all.

There are still some good bargains on Airbnb.

When I was recently in NC, I stayed in an isolated, forested area, two bedroom house with large screen porch for the price of a hotel room.

Driving school is expensive and so can renting or leasing a car, but is a good plan/goal to have.
Also, use meetup.com to meet new people who might have time when you do and based on an interest that you and others definitely share.

The fact you can take an Uber probably means that you are not in such a rural area that it is harder to find (new) activities to try out/do.

While I'll have to respectfully decline for this weekend, with our fellow forum members as my witnesses, I promise to find some time to hang out with you one weekend and/or go with you on a trip somewhere sometime in the coming year if you so wish. Serious offer. :-)

Love Portland. I really wanted to live in Oregon but we moved Midwest. Let's get a movie marathon going. I will bring Hawaii style popcorn. Regular popcorn mixed with oriental small crackers. Maybe drink swamp water- lemonade, ice tea, and ginger beer mixed together.

As much as I love movies and video games, I have spent far too much time home alone with both of those things and even though I am an Aspie, I also am an extrovert and I need to get the bloody hell out of my house more often. The fact that movie and game marathons do little for me anymore is a signal - something has to change in my life.
