A HEAD TEACHER has praised the achievement of two pupils with dyslexia and aspergers’ syndrome who have secured university places.
Both students received mentoring at Fulneck School’s Learning Support Unit.
David Dolding, of York, who has dyslexia, joined the Pudsey school as a boarder in year five and, last year, was made its head boy.
Next month he intends to join fellow undergraduates at Nottingham University - his first choice - to study engineering and physical sciences. Classmate Callum Gamble, from Drighlington, who has asperger’s syndrome will be studying creative media technology after being given an unconditional offer by Leeds Beckett University - impressed by the fact that for the last few years the F1 fan has been writing a regular blog about the motor sport.
Fulneck School Principal Deborah Newman said: “We are extremely proud of this year’s A-level successes and very pleased with the grades our students have achieved. There is no shortage of teaching and student talent here at Fulneck and today’s results reflect this. I’m particularly delighted for David and Callum, who, thanks to the guidance of our Learning Support Unit, will be taking up their respective places at Nottingham University and Leeds Beckett University.
“This is a superb testament to the hard work of both pupils and the help, support and guidance they have received from our much-respected learning support team.”
