Not really sure where else to post this, but for those who have been thinking about it, the Bose QC45 Noise Cancelling Headphones are currently on sale for US$229 ($100 off list US$329), which is the cheapest I've seen so far for regular retail.

Pricing should be available through all major retailers.

Does anybody who wears glasses use these? I’m on the verge of purchasing them, but I wear glasses most of the time.

That is a great price. I would like people canceling headphones too, you know, the obnoxious ones that just try to get attention because they have issues, and l just need to nullify them. I could market them as the nullify headphones, for days you have to get things done. Do you hate one co-worker, does your neighbor make you run for cover, does the opposite sex try to involve you in redundant chitter chatter, then nullify them with our 24/7 headphones that zap intruders with microcurrents and scramble their thoughts as you quietly exit.

Last night, I was totally overstimulated and I found myself trying to escape with earbuds, with my head wrapped in a blanket, blasting white noise from my phone right beside me. The auditory stimulus was still getting through.

Purchased!

I can make you some really custom noise for your new headphones if you ever need it! Brown noise (or even filtered white noise) tends to work the best for me because it has more going on in the low-end and can drown out stuff like thunder really well.

Also if anyone else is interested in the same, I can make a thread and post up requests

Definitely interested!
Interesting… I am more typically drawn to brown noise, as well, but white noise sometimes feels stronger somehow. In times of desperation I find I try white noise, whereas my brain rather prefers brownish noise. Everything I’ve used though is from cheap apps, and probably not very high-quality to begin with.

I use these all the time with glasses the pads seal well without putting a lot of pressure on the temples.
Good to hear. FWIW When I got my Sony WH1000 they were the Mk3, and for my glasses / headshape the Sony's were a bit better than the Bose. However, they decided to change the design on the XM5s and I'm finding the seal now with glasses isn't quite as consistently perfect. Occasionally need to adjust the cans a tiny bit higher to get the seal.

In fact my advice would be to hunt out some Mk3s if you can. They are awesome. Only drawack to the QC or Mk5 is that they can only pair to one device at a time. I found that the dual was annoying in the end so disabled dual anyway..

They work so well!
I can see my mutt licking his paws but I can’t hear it.

Oh frabjous day, Callooh! Callay!

I'm wondering if someone here is using earbuds and if earbuds can be uncomfortable to wear? I'm looking for a present for someone and that person has sensory issues. I have looked at headphones and earbuds, the earbuds look nice but are headphones less uncomfortable to wear? Personally I don't like to have things stuck into my ears. What do people think? Not sure what would be best.

I have the Sony Wh1000-Mk3 and Mk5s headphones, and for sports I have a set of PowerbeatsPro buds.

Honestly I like the headphones, they work really well and the noise cancelling is fantastic. The powerbeats I do occasionally use for work, but for long term use I find the headphones more comfortable as the ear canal isn't 'blocked'. Also my glasses fit comfortably over the top of the cans (as in vertically higher) so no issues with them being under the soft ear cup.

Great thing is that most electronics shops have demo headphones that you can try on to see which ones fit your head/ear shape best. Actually demoing the audio is fairly useless in teh shop as you won't be able to calibrate them to your ears/preferences and the music is always way over processed and bass heavy.

It’s so different for everyone, especially if they have sensory issues. Would it ruin the gift to you if you were to ask their opinion on earbuds or earmuffs?

Yeah I can't ask, that would ruin it a little. But I think headphones is the way to go.

This post changed my life!

My noise canceling headphones get used multiple times every day, and they have given me a hugely helpful tool in managing sensory stress. You never know when a little old post on a forum is going to actually change someone’s life forever.

That's great. I use mine primarily on long flights to prevent fatigue.

One of the few electronics items where I felt they actually lived up to all the hype. I always recall trying them on and testing them out in a very noisy Best Buy store.
