R.I.P, Emuparadise

So, I doubt Nintendo actually cares about their fans anymore. They may even be the end of their own community. They try to take down fan games (Pokemon Uranium is an example of this), they try to take down several of their fan's SFM animations due to some models being ripped, even though ripped assets more likely than not teach people wanting to learn about 3D modeling, and they even try to take down major emulation sites such as Emuparadise. Unfortunately, this has even caused Emuparadise to recently start to shut down. It seems like Nintendo doesn't care about their fans anymore, if they have even cared about them to begin with. They try to take down emulation sites since they think what there fans want is paying for a subscription service that is not only required for them to pay in order to play online multiplayer with friends, but also every so often get to be able to download a random retro game that they may or may not like, and not even get to keep it on their systems permanently. Also, Nintendo's virtual console emulators seem thrown together, since they didn't even bother with graphical enhancements to their games, while Microsoft is doing some pretty awesome work with the emulators for their console, almost making Banjo Kazooie 64 (Nintendo couldn't stop Microsoft from emulating it on their consoles, since Rare is owned by MS) look like it would on a PC emulator with graphical enhancements. If Xbox owners can get a more consumer-friendly, and way more visually pleasing experience than on the Switch, why bother with dealing with Nintendo's anti-consumer crap. I hate to say this, but Emuparadise is dead, and Nintendo is it's killer.

They've been struggling under the foot of Sony and Microsoft for a while now... Given the circumstances it's no surprise that they would try to combat piracy of their products. Many of their consoles have had lower graphical specs than sony or microsoft consoles of the same generation making it much easier to acquire playable nintendo roms.

And well, we are at a point in time where everything is taken down for copyright reasons now/ Or whatever else.. It's not as big of a deal like the Metallica / napster problem was decades ago. Videos, channels from youtube get removed for having a copywritten ring tones in the background. And other crazy censorship.

Emuparadise may be gone under it's original name but multiple people somewhere made back ups of the database and will reupload them under a new domain name because... loopholes and money.

The whole gaming industry has changed drastically in this decade. It's not just Nintendo.

What is the name of said new IP? Has it been revealed yet? Is it even open to the public yet?

Idk
Haven't looked
Idk

When they are up and running you'll be able to find it from a simple search in any search engine. For all i know rom sites just like emuparadise are still up. There is no reason for them not to be.

I know. Hopefully, it should be up soon. I have to opt for a website call Romsmania, which is a much more unreliable site, and I'm trying to download Call of Duty: Big Red One from it with an even more unreliable Internet connection.

Emulator and ROM sites are illegal anyway, so it's hardly surprising the site got shut down.

OK there's a Million and 1 SNES emulators online and a lot of them do work, but most don't.

Emulation must have come pretty far! Haven't been into it for years last i saw PCSX2 could barely play any titles :x I mean, they did pass as "playable" but the framerate was horrible. I remember sitting there for 3 hours just to get through a 20 minute intro. (It was some japanese mech rpg game that had a reasonably unique battle system... forgot the name)

Anyway what kind of rig do you run is your PC OP or have they reduced the system requirements or made ps2 emu more efficient over the years?

Even if they get the site back online, Nintendo's lawyers will sue the crap out of the hosts and get the site shut down forever.

It happens, Piracy is illegal for good reason.

Nintendo cares about its paying fans. Why on earth would they leave emulators online? They have nothing to gain from that, only to lose. And since they’re not a charity organization, this isn’t an unexpected move.

oh well, i got all the ROMs and the like anyway. it may be illegal, but for many of them, you cannot hope to ever play them again. there wont ever be a steam version of lufia 2, for example.

The problem is, Parents of 12 year old Pokemon fanatics can't afford £40 a time for the new games, so to satisfy demand of whining kids, they get the games by less scrupulous methods, what they don't get is that in order to run copied games, you have to *ahem* alter, your console.

Actually, you must not know how emulation works. It works by making mimicking how the consoles functions and runs games. However, at the current state of which emulators such as Dolphin, PCSX2, Xeon, and that generation and above do require hardware more powerful than the original console to run, although emulators for older generation home consoles and most handhelds (besides 3DS) run well on most modern PCs. Also, you don't need to alter the console hardware to rip ROMs and ISOs. Consoles that have discs use ISOs, and those files can be ripped after an installation of simple homebrew applications, which is barely an alteration. Also, the majority of people who emulate are actually adults and teenagers who want to play older games without purchasing a console off of eBay that they have already purchased in the past and the games for it for insanely high prices.
I recommend that you watch these videos that I included in this comment. They are from a YouTuber called BulletBarry, who can explain all of this better than I can.

Actually, back when I had a Windows PC, I used to run emulators and game ROMs all the time, including MAME stuff.

I tried to use Dolphin emu to play CoD 2: Big Red One as well as CoD: Finest Hour. Both were running at low frame rates. For some reason, I couldn't actually run Big Red One when I tried it today, but I have decently well in the past. I have a PC from 2012. I don't know much about the system requirements for Dolphin, though.

Apparently you can play Xbox One games on a Windows 10 PC.

I don't think you can play PS4 games on a Sony branded PC (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Well, of course not. Sony doesn't make PCs. If they did, the hardware will be at least 7 years behind other PC's hardware.
