Raúl from Mexico. 39 ASD1 "High functioning" diagnosis

Hi there! I'm Raúl. I'm 39, from Mexico City.

I was diagnosed a year ago. I lived my whole life thinking the world was wrong and going through severe difficulties with social interactions.

A year ago I got into an annual check up with a new insurance company and they told me I had anxiety and to go see the psychiatrist. She made some tests and after a few sessions her conclusion was that I didn't had anxiety by itself, but as a comorbidity of ASD1 "High functioning". I then started having sessions specifically about it and started reading about autism. It was like all the pieces from my past started to fall into place. It didn't change my life at all, actually, but it was kind a relief in a way, and a burden in another.

So, trying to learn and share about Autism is that I got here. Cheers everyone!

Hi @raulmorales
Welcome to the Forums and congratulations on the diagnosis (even though it was a year ago).
It seems that the process was quite quick for you, which is not the experience of everyone.

Great you have answers. Anxiety is a ongoing issue for me. It seems that a lot of posts here are about anxiety when l think about it.
