Relapse

I get overwhelmed with emotions and I freak out and punched my face I been hospitalized for this recently and been currently in an outpatient program well tonight it happened again but not too bad I was able to use coping skills and bring my self down and I feel like I'm progressing but I'm afraid if I go into op tommorow and say I did this they will put me in even tho I was able to bring my self down last time I had an ambulance called on me

I don't know what to say about this & have no more time left right now, but I am so sorry to read you had a bad night. Except I think you should be proud of yourself that you actually implemented coping skills to successfully calm yourself down. That is progress & a step in the right direction. Improvements take time. I guess I would suggest you try not to dwell on this or worry about it. That would not be helpful as it only creates stress & anxiety. Instead try to relax & also focus on the POSITIVE. It was not too bad AND you actually practiced (& succeeded) in implementing whatever self-coping skills you have been learning. That is quite positive.

For future reference, when you have time, check out this related discussion thread about self-harming behaviors. There are several great lifestyle tips & advice about managing the same kind of emotional overload you are describing.
Self-destructive/ harming behaviors? | AspiesCentral.com

Good luck with your op appointment & please follow up to report how everything went for you. Whatever happens will be for the best for your health long term. You are getting there.

I don't think you necessarily have to tell them about the incident, if you really think you are making progress and improving your resistance to it. When you were hospitalized last time, did they put you on a medication for it, and did they say if it needed a certain amount of time to reach full effectiveness?

The self harm may only be the resulting coping behavior and the real problem lies in the getting overwhelmed feeling. What treatment are they giving you for it?
