Hi everyone! Glad I found this site!
I'm Rob. Robert Scott to those very few who know me. I'm 45 and almost 7 years into my 2nd marriage. I sought diagnosis earlier this year (in April) and it was confirmed by Dr. Mark Smedley in Anchorage. I had no idea I was Aspie until my wife said so a couple years ago, while we were watching the show Parenthood. We really loved that show.
My first marriage lasted about 17 years before she grew bored of a mostly solitary life, and that divorce was hard on me. Well, both of us, I'm sure. The kids were 17 and 19 at the time, and I'm estranged from them both now.
I remarried after 2 years, and very happily so, but it's a very lightly balanced happiness. We seem to both be on the verge of a total breakdown from time to time. She had 4 kids, and we had all 6 together in the same house for a few weeks at first (Brady Bunch style). Now there is just one chick left in the nest, and my wife is trying to figure out what she is other than a mom.
I've been a hobby guitar player since I was 18. I wrote one full song before moving to Alaska in 2014. Since then I've written about 70, and still going, and so I've been getting more and more serious about music as a career. I posted 7 of my songs to YouTube this weekend, and a Kickstarter campaign. Here's a link to the first song:
My mom says ... "maybe you should just stick to playing the guitar."
I agree that my voice still has room for improvement, and I'm working on it! It's SO much better than it was just a few months ago.
Playing my first open mic night tonight. Wish me luck!
Rob
