Rumination/regurgitation

Does anybody here has this?
I read it is not common but it can coexist with Autism, specially in children.
Well, I am not a child and I don't know if I have Autism but this happens with me sometimes, quite unconsciously.
It is disgusting, not healthy and I want to stop it.
Suggestions?
Thank you

Are you talking about rumination, as the process of chewing over
what you have already eaten? Combined with vomiting.

Because rumination also means to think about a topic over and over.

The use of the words "disgusting" and "not healthy" give me the
impression you mean the former. Chewing and puking.

What Is Rumination Disorder?

Happens to me all the time, presuming we're talking about the digestive problem.
It's a common adjunct to Gastroparesis. My stomach doesn't empty properly so if I eat to much it keeps bouncing back up until my stomach has sufficient space. Eating smaller, more frequent meals is the only solution that's worked for me.
There are drugs like metaclopromide and domperidone (anti-emetics) that can help, but they also have plenty of side effects including involuntary muscle spasms (which is why I don't take them any more).

Reflux is a common problem. A GP can help, as can simple things like avoiding too much coffee.

I have a hiatal hernia and food not going down is a common thing. I've suffered with it since 2006, and am trying to get something done about it.

A motility problem when swallowing called Nutcracker's esophagus can also create this problem.
My house share partner has it.
The GI doc prescribed Isosorbide for it and he is doing well now.

Thank you for your answers.
I think I do both kind of rumination: in the mind and in the body...they are probably connected. I do feel the problem gets worse when I am more stressed and worried or ruminating about something in my mind.
I will follow the advice to eat smaller portions at a time and see how it goes from there.
Maybe I should do some tests to the stomach to rull out the possibility of something worse, I had two cases of stomach cancer in the family, but I really don't think it is about that.
My father has the same rumination problem both in mind and body and I am just like him...:(

If you do go down the route of getting tested it's straightforward but takes a while. You fast for 24 hrs then in the hospital you are put in a gown and given a bowl of soft food - in my case it was scrambled egg but mashed potato is sometimes used. The food is laced with barium. They then lie you down in an x-ray machine for up to an hour to track the progress of the food. In my case, after an hour it was still in my stomach which I was told is about as bad as it gets.
In the UK it's done under the NHS and there wasn't a long wait before I had the test (it was 20+ years ago though).
In the US and elsewhere that doesn't benefit from state healthcare I imagine it's quite an expensive test because of the time, the equipment and the staff involved so checking your insurance covers it would be advisable.

Thank you Autistamatic.
Today I ate smaller portions and it helped.
I will avoid a trip to the hospital for as long as I can:confused: Not that I am afraid of Hospitals and doctors...I actually like to learn all I can about health and medicine, but in this case I will pass...;)
