Sensory Overload and Anxiety

After a discussion with a friend who is Neurotypical, I want to ask. Do you think some sensory overload issues are merely caused by anxiety? I was discussing how the colors of some foods make me not want to eat them like cauliflower or carrots. I've never really tasted these foods but know that I don't want to. I was told this may not be sensory overload but moreso anxiety of the unknown.
