Shoe fittings

I have very small feet. EU size 35 and uk size 2 and when a teen, had to put up with wearing 2 sizes up, which meant I was always slipping out of them and therefore, always tripping up. Tried stuffing cotton wool at the toe end, which did help. This lasted many years, til, smaller, adult shoes started to circulate.

In truth, could not understand why, even shoes that seem to fit, I had to have a strap and could never wear those slip on shoes that other women wear, which did make me feel apart from my own species.

Have a pair of slippers that I are my best friend, but without the velcro strap, I still would slip out of them. Well, they are way past their usage ie holes and so, went hunting for a similar pair and finally decided to put the French word for slippers and suddenly, up pops the PERFECT slippers, but was a bit concerned, because of no vecro, however, loved the look so much and the fact that they have a little heal, which is great for me.

They arrived yesterday and put them on and could not believe it! Finally got my answer to why I have needed a strap on all shoes. Because I always thought I was a size 3, but these are a size 2 and fit so well. I said to my husband that had they been in a size 3, I would be slipping out of them.

So happy that my size is available for adult females now.

I had an aunt with the opposite problem to you, she wore size 11 mens shoes. She only owned one pair of dress shoes her whole life because she had to have them custom made.

When I first started hiking, there were no hiking boots sized for women. I had to wear men’s size six with two pair woolen socks.

It does feel great to find something that actually fits. I am happy for you!

How exciting. Shoe shopping is a stressful thing. I’m 40 (6.5) but extra wide so very little available.

I also had very wide feet, even though I'm a common size it's not always easy to find something comfortable. It's a bit confusing when buying shoes in Australia now too because we've got both UK and US size systems.

In the British system a size 8 is a normal shoe and an 8 1/2 is a size 8 but extra wide.

Proper work boots from a safety wear store are usually better made, more comfortable and harder wearing than what's sold as hiking boots. And you can get them without the steel caps.
