Slow News Day Or Neurotypicals Being Neurotypical?

Unbelievable how people can get so worked up over such trivia! And they are the ones who so often want to tell us to 'get a life'!!

Beats me. Another case of intense scrutiny over a single facial expression. Something beyond my capacity to understand. o_O

Solid evidence that I must be from another planet. Now THAT, I find newsworthy! :p

Neurotypicals: "OMG, what was Jennifer Garner thinking at that moment during the Oscars?"

Neurodiverse: "Who cares?"

Jennifer Garner reacts to her Oscars face going viral

Do you think she'd read one of my posts?

Do you think she'd read one of my posts?

God forbid if it should invoke a facial reaction of any kind. ;)

Who knows? Maybe she's contemplating commenting on my post and my own use of emoticons. :p

Though in real-time communications I can't ever recall stopping someone in the middle of their conversation to question their facial status at that moment...whatever it may be.

In honor of all those times my mother would ask, "What's wrong?"

And my answer was always the same. "Nothing."

Funny, I just thought of the idea of a professional poker player on the spectrum. One who was quite wealthy because of all of his "tells" interpreted by Neurotypical opponents.

Some Guy Allegedly Stole Frances McDormand's Oscar and Pretended It Was His

This year's trick involved theft....

A couple years ago a guy went around with a fake oscar to see what
reactions he'd get.
Watch This Random Guy Tell People He Won An Oscar, Get Kisses And Free Stuff

I like the idea of ordinary people acting like they won oscars, to
see what reactions they'd get, but not if they are stealing a
real Oscar. That's not fun.

TLDR
Pretending to have won an Oscar/Facial & Other Reactions
I thought the title of the thread referred to the guy in the
first story. That sort of Slow News Day story...

Maybe my facial muscles have become atrophied over the years. Lack of use by NT standards ?

I'm just happy they seem to work sufficiently to eat. No happy smile required though. Oops. I may have just broken their social conventions- again. Should I now frown?

Oh my...imagine being judged by how you chew your food as well.

Psssssssst! Just laugh when they laugh. Masking 101. Yet I wonder what they are thinking about us when we use our sense of humor without our faces- or voices following accordingly ? Something that occasionally gets me into trouble with others unless they really know me.

My social rule was
1. Say a funny thing in response.
2. Then say the serious thing.

43 years later I realised not everyone has the same rule.
Explains a few things :)

What gets me about stuff like the Oscars, is that nobody comments on the actual AWARDS, but mainly about the dresses the women wear, the more elaborate the better in most cases.

Same with the British event down at Ascot, no one cares about the actual Horse racing, just the size of the hats the women wear every year! Seems a bit daft to me, it's a flipping Horse race not a fashion show.
