"So how was your today?" I ask youngest..

Spiller

Just.. WEIRD!
When you pick them up from school - they come wandering out of the building, glad - in a tired kinda way - to see you, do you start filling them back up with energy or do you ask them about their day at school?

I read this and remembered how I felt then - school was the least important thing.

.. How I felt, my thoughts and emotions concerning my seeming peers (A person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/peer) was an entirely different affair indeed.

What would I have liked to face after school?

This is a great insight - and reminder - into the boiling cauldron your kids have to endure as a mind for so long, through so much Sh*t!

After school? Cartoons and playing outside until sunset. I was bloody sick of school by the time I got done with it.

After school I went straight to the bathroom, ran myself a warm bath, took a book and stayed in the tub for a good solid hour. Very relaxing :)

At primary school I'd have liked to have gone home to be greeted by my mum and a steaming mug of hot chocolate. In reality my mum had a job, so I used to come out of school and walk for a mile, in the opposite direction from home, so that I could meet my mum when she got off the bus. Was I being an affectionate son? No, it was simply an act of self preservation. I didn't want to go straight home and risk being alone in the house with my older brother.
