Wow, so many of y'all from across the pond! I've been here a couple of days and hear of some neat places!
Call this the Hometown Thread! Tell everyone about where you live, & what makes it special.

I guess I'll start things off!
My old Kentucky home is in Bardstown, about three miles from Federal Hill, also known as My Old Kentucky Home. 90% of the world's Bourbon is made here. We have the first Catholic church west of the Appalachian Mountains. We have Bardstown Country Club, the state's only 36 hole semiprivate country club, consisting of Woodlawn Springs Golf Club and Maywood Country Club, which is our premier facility. There are two other golf courses in Bardatown also, Kenny Rapier Championship Golf Course at My Old Kentucky Home State Park, with nice views of Federal Hill and Heaven Hill Distillery. Four miles out of town on Hwy. 245 is Cedar- Film Golf Course, probably the most beginner- friendly course in the state, & where I learned to play.
In town, we have St. Joseph's' Proto-Cathedral, the previously mentioned church. Nearby is Spalding Hall, which houses the Oscar Goetz Museum Of Whiskey History. South of town is the Nelson County Fairgrounds and Bluegrass Speedway, a half-mile dirt oval. We used to have a parachute club, but they closed down or moved, I can't remember which at almost 4 in the morning!:):) We also have the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, which celebrates our history as The Bourbon Capital Of The World.
I have everything I could want here. One of my best friends is my roommate, the other owns Bardstown Country Club & writes my paychecks! My girlfriend, Kim lives south of town, about six miles on Ritchie Lane, so I am content and happy here. Communicate provides services for me to assist me with transportation & money management, as well as counseling if I need it. I truly have it all in Bardstown, Kentucky, MY old Kentucky home!:):):)

There really are a lot of people in the UK, I wasn't expecting it either, I'm used to joining sites where the majority are from the U.S. I'm from the UK. A country that's nice and cloudy.

Sound off about your hometown, around here, UK stands for the University of Kentucky! Go Wildcats!!

Bardstown has the three most important things in the world, Bourbon, golf, & beautiful women!

Do you get a lot of wind? Bardstown is really windy, especially at Maywood because there's little to blovk it. Bardstown is on top of a high hill.

It is windy today for parts of the UK and has been recently. The car was rocking back and forth a good amount a few days ago.

Here is the latest one. Note we are on the letter I. It starts with A, all the significant ones get names.

This one isn't effecting me, I'm not in the weather warning area. It is windy but not very.

It's been worse. I've been without power for multiple days because a nice bit of 100+ mph wind decided to pick up a tree and put it on a power line. Always fun.

So yes, wind is normal. Storms bring in wind and we get a lot being pushed up here. Hence the clouds, hence the wind.

Wow, is like to have that 96 mph wind behind my ball on #3! I could drive the green, & it's 600 yards away!

Nix that, I have a hard time with out usual 20-milers. Still gives the old dimpled sphere a good push, sometimes in the wrong direction, though!!!;)

I saw a typo in my description of a course her. It was caused by the spell checker. It's Cedar- Fil Golf Course. Spell- check made it Cedar- Film. I obsess over correct spelling.

It'd have to be going in one direction solidly and at the right angle to work, also not the best weather to be outside in, you'd have to stop yourself getting blown away.

Tell me about it! I'm 5' tall & 120 pounds with a pocket full of golf balls! One gust like that & I'm literally gone with the wind!!!!;););)

It's not a very big town and it is somewhere in England. I like it because it's quiet and not busy. But at the same time we're not completely cut off and can get to places of more significance (and therefore bigger shops). It's a nice in between. I wouldn't want to live in a city, too many people.

Bardstown isn't too big, either, but it's very busy for it's size, with the distilleries and all. It's near two major highways, so it's easy to go places also. Louisville's 40 miles north & Lexington's 70 miles east, each with good airports.
