Soft Synths

tlc

The Mackinac Bridge and U.P. is my happy place.
Is anyone here familiar with soft synths?

I got a USB Midi cable to connect my 61 key MIDI capable keyboard to my Windows XP computer. What I'd like to do is find an analog style software synth and use my keyboard keys to play it.

I downloaded one and it just consists of a DLL file. So apparently there is more to it than what I thought. Does anyone know how to get started with this?

Look up one called Simsynth. I used to play with this a few years ago and thought it was a good emulation of analog synthesis.
