As per usual with my therapy routine of relaxation and meditation before bed, I started the routine off by playing some GameBoy Color games on an emulator on my phone. A little bit of Mega Man Xtreme, etc...
Before I go any further, I should point out that yesterday, I ended up going to the ER after one of our cats caused me to trip and fall down the stairs and hit my head(!!) on the corner of one stair, causing a gash(!). It was quickly taken care of at the ER, staff was very wholesome and friendly to me and very understanding, my mother let them know about my Autism and they responded accordingly. I was given a TDAP and a shot for anxiety and they glued my head shut.
So, after that context, like I said last night i started winding down like I always do, starting with some games on my phone, and ending with an audio file for sleep which I programmed a playlist to end with a 10 hour long recording of some dolphin sounds (VERY relaxing; I fell asleep in minutes).
This is when things got a little weird.
As I laid there, floating with Aloe in my little headspace, listening to her stories about a shipwreck I saw in a dream, at one point when I was imagining what she'd be telling me, I was startled briefly awake by a bizarre beeping sound. It sounded like it was 8-bit in structure, like from an old video game, and rather than being one single beep, it was more of a sound effect; the kind you'd hear on a 1980s arcade game from Japan upon collecting a piece of fruit that gave you points, or bouncing off an enemy's head and stunning them or something. If I was going to describe it phonetically, it would probably be "bluu-WEEDLEEP". I only heard it once.
I knew it wasn't coming from my phone, because I had it next to me while I was laying under my weighted blanket and I would have heard it at full volume in my ear. And it couldn't have come from my starlight projector which doubles as a bluetooth speaker, because I would have noticed the reverb bouncing off the walls of my room, or at least what the vibrations of the reverb would have made it sound like. It couldn't have been from a game on my TV because my TV's not even in my room right now because it got wet and broke.
I have no idea what made this sound or where it came from. And honestly, it kinda scares me a little...
What is happening?!
