Sorry for all the whining I have been doing.

I am realizing that most people do not want me around when I am feeling depressed.

So, I am going to fake the happiness until I make it happen.

Who knows, I might make more friends that way IRL.

I will lift others up because my own problems are so small in comparison.

You don't whine very much, Metalhead. I always enjoy reading your posts. All of us have "off days" when we feel like you-know-what and want to just complain and moan about everything. On those days, I retire to the bedroom to binge watch Netflix and BritBox and shun the world. I know I'll snap out of it but sometimes I just need to be alone. I also ask my husband to either cook something for dinner or order takeout because I am totally uninspired to cook on those days.

Please don't apologise for being depressed. It's not your fault. If you feel worried about being judged by people here you can always PM me (but don't take that as an obligation lol, I'm just saying that I would listen if someone wants to gets their problems off their chest). x

Whining is recreational in small doses but I think positivity at least in a few little things will be fine for you in the long run.

I don't see you as a whinger. You're normally a pretty happy bloke until you get triggered.

You're right about wearing a smile though, even if you don't feel it inside. It changes the way people respond to you and that might make you feel happier.

I've found this place to be very accepting and supporting when I'm sad and I bet it's the same for you.

Sometimes we do feel unwanted and feel like we're bothering people but, at least in my very personal opinion, I don't mind and like a bunch of your statuses.

Seems like this forum is a very good place to vent for me.

I've been there homie, I've been very sad and depressed and still am, but at least here I have a place where I can let it all out without fear of judgments because probably someone else feels/has felt that way.

Faking happiness is not a good idea. Toxic positivity is, well, toxic, and it's bad enough we're expected to fake being neurotypical.

You can attempt to lift others up without pushing your own feelings and experiences down.

Comparing struggles doesn’t work because yours are your own. No one understands your challenges better than you, and therefore no one will understand the way out better than you.

If you want to display more positivity, perhaps you can feel your authentic feelings, and express those, but also add in the positivity that you notice in the day. Things that you have done well, hopes that you have, or things that you are grateful for.

I think balance is the key. Perhaps you’ve been experiencing too much negativity, but the plan you stated above sounds like too much positivity. Neither is sustainable. Seek balance and throw in a heavy dose of neutral.

It depends really. People who just go around being rude to people or not cooperating are what lowers my mood too and cause anxiety. But people who are stressed and rant or confide in people and just merely expressing their feelings don't affect me negatively, as I am able to feel more sympathy for them and want to help.

Okay, l am going the opposite route, just be yourself. Being goody two shoes isn't a good look. Lol

It’s always important to express how you feel than burying your emotions because it can make things worse. It always feels better to get that off your chest. No one is perfect. :fourleaf:

Please don't force happiness. You have been wrestling with some serious issues. I hope that once things are resolved you will feel honest happiness and satisfaction. Don't stress, bud, we are here for you.

It is ok
To be depressed, people who genuinely love u, will love u all the time always.
Remember Eeyore in winnie in the pooh when he was depressed all his friends stuck by him
Do not fake who u are.

I am a bit of both.
I get tired from doom and gloom sometimes and people and their feelings so I want to focus on happier things
But people should never fake their feelings or who they are, it is their right to be who they are.
If others do not like it, they can chose the posts they like without like telling someone to feel something they do not.

Sometimes a good winge or rant can be very cathartic and therapeutic, and is necessary. It does you good - helps with mental health and helps make you a happier person on other days. You could use the rant or muttering thread for that - unless you want support and responses for the problem, of course.

Sounds like masking. And we all know what that does to us. You and your opinions are still welcome and respected here, happy or depressed. pay attention to the other comments. Try putting it all in perspective.

You've been working at making changes, haven't you? In the positive direction. I even read that your story inspired someone move forward in their own life. So just keep doing what you've been doing and at some point you'll have tackled enough challenges to put an actual smile on your face.
