I'm not going to lie, since the big blowout of Endgame and even a bit before then, I was really burned out with the MCU movies along with superhero movies in general - the main reason being that it just feels like the same formula been rolled out again and again.
It feels like eating your favourite fast food every day - you might enjoy it at first but eventually it just starts to get boring and you (or your taste buds) start to want something else. Now with Phase 4, there's very little to actually get me excited and I'm not interested in following the TV shows.
(For the record, if you're still following the MCU and still into it, be it just the films or all the films, shows and other stuff, all power to you - it's just something my mind has turned away from for the most part).
With this new trailer, I won't deny that seeing Defoe's Green Goblin and Molina's Doctor Octopus again did catch my attention, with the return of Foxx's Electro to a lesser extent (curious to see his redesign as he won't be blue this time).
Honestly, it's a shame they didn't bring back Keating's Vulture from Homecoming and Giamatti's Rhino from ASM2 as then all you'd need is one more member (maybe Scorpion, Kraven the Hunter, Chameleon or someone else) and you could have had a multiversal "Sinister Six" on screen for Spidey to take on - which is something Amazing Spider-Man 2 was apparently building up to.
Maybe this film will be good or maybe the inclusion of previous foes from Pre-MCU Spider-Man movies will amount to nothing more than nostalgia-baiting for another "by the numbers" superhero movie.
In any case, we'll have to wait and see.
