Stages of processing a mental heath diagnosis

i feel relieved now but at the same time im sometimes worried my extreme emotions won’t get better. On 4/25, my doctor diagnosed me with bipolar disorder and prescribed me medication for me to start taking.

I’m relieved now because the answer for my hyper fixations and unpredictable behavior/emotions that were out of character for me have been solved. It’s not my adhd (maybe a bit) but it’s my new diagnosis that’s causing my behavior.

Is there anyone else here that has a similar diagnosis? What can I do to cope with this new diagnosis?

I went off the adhd stimulants because they weren’t helping me after the first week. My doctor suggested I go to my PCP for input on this. My doctor said she can prescribe me non stimulants for the adhd but that’ll be in the future. I just disclosed my diagnosis to my boss and she’s relieved that i finally have an answer.

I have known someone for a very long time who is bipolar. They definitely had manic stages. They still are in denial. However, they say the meds have a zombie like affect. Maybe you will have better luck. Do you feel better having more answers? I have met many very successful career people, and they have long-term relationships who confessed being bipolar.
