Still Figuring Things Out

Tesseract

Well-Known Member
I guess this is where I say something about why I joined A.C.

Well... until recently I belonged to another, very popular, site dedicated to "Aspies". Actually I'm still a member, have not left, but for some bizarre reason I often experience many technical issues with it. It often gets horribly frustrating to use, so I decided to see if I could find an alternative.

I have as yet not received an "official diagnosis", but I'm working on that. The primary reason for my seeking one out is to finally lay this question to rest: do I, or do I not, have Asperger's Syndrome? I strongly suspect I do, but being a "self-diagnosis" it doesn't carry as much authority, isn't taken as seriously as when someone with a PhD, dark-rimmed glasses, a lab coat and a serious frown proclaims "I grant thee thy diagnosis!" Ka-ching!

Anyway, what can ya do?

Yes, it looks that way already. There are just SO many things I could do here. I could spend all day here (being an internet addict and all of that).

I'm new here as well , I hope ya have a good time here my friend and if ya want to talk to fellow aspie I'll always be will to talk

Hi Tesseractrl, welcome. I hope you enjoy it here, people are friendly and helpful here and there are plenty of interesting threads to read and respond to. I am self diagnosed and don't need a diagnosis for any reason so I am not pursuing one. In the UK I think they're maybe harder to get free through the NHS and easier to get by paying privately. But I put the self diagnosis together after many years and much study of myself and of autistic traits and Aspergers so pretty confident. Even from a Dr it's still a guesstimate but I suppose genetic research and neuroscience may change that in the future. Good luck with your quest!

Welcome to the forum.
I think you will like it here.
Like you, I also could spend the whole day here
as I am an internet addict too. Just don't have the
time though due to daily activities I have to attend to.
It's great to find a place to talk with fellow aspies and
be able to feel you can be yourself on whatever you feel like talking about. :)

Welcome to AC.

I think it's important to understand though that even in the event you receive a positive diagnosis from a qualified medical professional, it's no guarantee of Neurotypicals either understanding your Neurodiversity, let alone accepting it. Some may, many won't.

About the only way I personally see any sense of validation of one's form of autism is in interacting with fellow people on the spectrum. Where you realize in a profound way that you are indeed, not alone. ;)
