Stimuli Responses

Does anyone out there have different reactions to similar stimuli? What I mean is that I can't stand a loud, screaming child, but I love trains, and so the sound of a train whistle doesn't bother me. In addition, I sometimes laugh out loud at extreme profanity, but I hate when people are too mushy toward talking to me or praise/celebrate me.

Yeah, I used to hate getting praised as a child, somewhere along the line that stopped, I'm guessing adolescence.

The last time I remember getting really upset by a sound was someone opening up a plastic foil wrapper on a chocolate bar on a YouTube stream when I had my headphones on, it was painful! Not a nice experience at all. That was the best part of a year ago now so this sort of thing doesn't happen very often with me.

Absolutely. I'm VERY sensitive to highly audible low and high frequency sounds.

However ones that I anticipate, and those I expect and want to hear I can tolerate far better than those which are sudden and unexpected.

Whether or not it makes any sense, it's how I react to such stimuli for better or for worse.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I am.

If I'm overstressed, a crackly potato chip bag or cellophane wrapped candy will send me up the wall.
