Alex Lehmann showcases the lives of four friends on the Autism Spectrum as they prepare for their farewell comedy tour.

Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to coming-of-age documentary Asperger's Are Us ahead of its premiere at SXSW.

The film is centered on four friends — Noah Britton, Michael Ingemi, Ethan Finlan and Jack Hanke — who are in a special-needs comedy troupe who find themselves dealing with life's uncertainty. Before they split up for good, they decide to embark on their last tour.

The film marks the directorial debut of Alex Lehmann, who previously worked as a cinematographer for more than 10 years.

The indie documentary was produced by Sean Bradley and Chris Dowling and Lehmann. Executive producers include Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass, who previously inked a four-film deal with Netflix when the streaming company was beginning its film development in 2015.

“I spend most of my nights searching Netflix for new and interesting documentaries,” said Mark Duplass. “Asperger's Are Us, with its dry, winning, massive heart, has found the perfect place to be discovered around the world."

The pic will have its world premiere on Saturday, March 12, during SXSW, which runs March 11-19 in Austin, Texas.

ICM Partners and Submarine negotiated the deal with Netflix on behalf of the filmmakers.
