Technology related hobbies

Very broad. Technology is a very general term. Plus, it's also interesting to hear about a wide variety of hobbies.

Screencapping is a big hobby of mine. I have several screencap collages on my computer, mostly of Disney cartoons, that I'm always adding to. I also love video editing. I'm always recording or collecting video and audio clips to mash together one way or another. I've been meaning to clean out my Videos folder for a while but first I have to finish my current projects so I don't delete any material I'm currently using.

It's nothing on a regular basis, since my focus and drive is somewhat out of the window due to circumstances.

But generally speaking these are some technology related things I spend time on when I feel like it.
- Building a Theremin
- Building/working with sounddesign tools, even if it's just to get a better understanding at it at first, and hopefully put said knowledge to use for either music, animation or just to goof off.
- I might consider my "art project" technology related since it revolves around digital art and photomanipulation. I've been working on 3d models digitally a while ago, which at some point should become physical items/props. Furthermore the project should involve music (well, I took a jab at that a few years ago)...and I'm still thinking if there should be animation as a animated graphic novel of sorts. So in a way the sounddesign part is related to this even in the long run probably.
- And I'm always up for "rewiring" instruments to alter functionality. I'm not neccesarily someone who delves into circuit bending on a big scale, but that's one of the interests that keeps coming back (when I"m in my "I want to do something with music"-mood). Due to expenses I often end up trying stuff out digitally rather than physically, so Reaktor is one of the big go to software programs to go to I guess.

But all those are really low on the background, but they show up every now and then.

Oh well, I'm an endurance cyclist and as much as I'm into training I'm also really interested in mechanical parts of bikes. Detailed properties of brake disks, gear shifts, shaft geometries and carbon assemblies are quite my porn. Thou the same affects to composite canoes and few other equipment too.

Also, how indirect hobbies do count? I'm quite much into many different things that often are so detailed that it's nearly impossible to picture them for someone that doesn't know more about those topics. I aim to learn few computational fluid dynamics softwares, participate in some software developmental communities and edit wikipedia. I also read a lot, mostly news/releases about the following but am not directly involved myself: astrophysics, nanotechnology, acoustics, IT pretty broadly, about mathematics in it and it's applications over many subjects. I also pay a lot of attention when buying components to my pc or choosing mobile devices. Same applies strongly to what articles of kitchen ware I can think of buying. I don't have money or storage space for rubbish, so I can be a quality snob. So I'm bit of an enginerd, I hardly can enjoy about anything without thinking technologies behind the thing itself.

Right now I'm working on a printing server so that people at the house I live at can print stuff over the network. Right now the server works and I have a command line script, but I need to make a GUI to make it easier for most people to use.

How's that going? I've been somewhat interested in theremins. Building one would seem fun.

Thats a project ive been busy with for a few years (due to dropping motivation)... Its not as hard as it sounds. I managed to get a kit with the components and some schematics, so its mostly assembly and tuning. Right now I actually just have to check if all components are soldered perfectly and no components broke due to bad soldering. And then theres tuning... Which should be fine with all the tuning gear I have around. If I ever get it done I'll post something on the board
