Television

Does anyone have any favorite TV shows or movies they would like to recommend?

This is an overrated answer, but my favorite TV show is Stranger Things. I’m a huge fan of the 80’s. I love the fashion and style because it’s interesting to see how different everything was back in the day. I also like a lot of the styles and colors that were used. My favorite movies I can watch over and over again include Lord of the Rings and the Matrix. I just recently watched the first three Matrix movies and I’m regretting not watching them sooner. I have so many more, but those are some of the ones that came to mind.

I rarely like movies at all, but the first Matrix movie is definitely one that really sticks with me.

Now, niche youtube channels? Totally different story. But anything scripted / fantasy just confuses me for the most part

I used to love movies, but I have stopped watching new ones entirely over the past few years. I have a few favorites that I will rewatch endlessly, but nothing new interests me.

Niche youtube channels has taken over most of my media, too.

Nevertheless, on that list of movies that I will rewatch until time’s end are the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the movie Fargo.

When Cleveland Amory, reviewer for TV Guide, summed up the new season as "a vast wasteland" he got many letters complaining that people could not find "Vast Wasteland."
I recommend reading "Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television" by Jerry Mander.

I'm a fan of the 80s too, such a great decade. I liked the complete lack of smartphones. We only had regular old fashion stupid phones. Good times. :)

I do like to watch YouTube channels as well. I think I watch more YouTube channels than actual TV cable sometimes. I enjoy listening to music while I draw and color in my coloring books. It’s really calming for me to do.

I love to look at the old brick phones that existed. My grandpa had an old brick phone in his storage shed and I asked if I could take a look at it. I was playing around with the settings and I found it to be really cool. It really blows my mind how far technology has come since the 80s.

I'm a huge fan of Lost (see avatar). Sometimes the dialogue was lacking, but the show is very fun and heartfelt, and I could relate to the characters a lot. I also really love the world they created. It's a great sci-fi/fantasy world, and not the "survival" show you might think it is. It's a little similar to Lord of the Rings in that it concerns a very long history as seen through a few characters, and their relation to a final battle.

I also love Deadwood, which has the best dialogue I've seen in a TV show. The characters were very complicated and interesting. It's probably the most mature show I've seen.

All three seasons of True Detective are great, too. Each one tells its own story with different characters. Three, in particular, was very moving.

In the 80s I did a post grad certificate in teaching, then 3 different jobs, the third of which actually was teaching. I split from my first relationship, and had a few more tries, I discovered folk clubs and nightclubs, I wrote poetry and read books and rode my bike. I can't remember any TV from that decade. But overall I enjoyed it.

I'm also more of a fan of Youtube than movies or TV. I prefer educational and "realistic" content over fantasy or fictional content. There are a couple of TV series that looked kind of interesting to me recently though, like Wednesday and Tulsa King, but I don't know if the latter would be too scary for me or not. I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to TV and movies.
I occasionally enjoy TV shows about paranormal mysteries, and nature/science/wildlife.

I’ve been thinking about watching Wednesday I heard it’s really good. I didn’t consider YouTube in my post till I read some replies. I wish I would have thought about it sooner because I actually watch YouTube more. I like to watch historical events and documentaries the most on YouTube and streaming apps. I like to try and learn something new every day.

Me too :)
There is actually a thread on here where you can share something new you learned today (or any day.) I think it's in the Off Topic section and it was started by my lovely friend @Rodafina
That’s awesome thank you for telling me about it. I’m still exploring and learning about how the site works. I appreciate the help.

Forgot Breaking Bad. I've watched this a few times, and it's the only series I've seen where I enjoy every scene.
