Thanks for inviting me in…..

Hey, everyone!!! Super shy and hesitant to join this forum, but hoping to learn how to talk to others without negative consequences! Love crocheting and designing my own patterns, donating my work to foster children who are “in the system”. Lots of practice at a solitary existence!!!

Hi there! I’m shy, too, so I totally understand! People here are nice, so I hope you find the help you’re looking for.

Hi and welcome - I love your user name and totally agree. Kindness matters so much. I’m shy and solitary too, but this place has turned me into a real chatterbox – I guess I had a few things to say after all, just needed the right way and space to say it.

I hope you find good things here.

As someone who grew up in the foster system, and dealt with some really horrific stuff, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do for foster children <3

And I love your username! That is always my philosophy :)
Welcome!

Luca: I know that some people think anyone with ASD has NO empathy, but golly darn!!! I can recognize your pain and with all my heart, I wish you and all others would NEVER have to suffer like that. I couldn’t stop my childhood abusers (family), and I cringe every time I think of all the children who are miserable and helpless. Here we are as adults with these very deep scars and it still hurts! Just donating my crocheted teddy bears, blankets, toys is the very least I can do. If I could get out around people, I would love to volunteer at a nearby group home for foster children! That’s pretty much the reason I’m giving this forum a try. Thank you for sharing your experience!!!!

That is so wonderful. One of the reasons I love my spouse deeply is because she volunteers as a CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate. She is tasked to represent the interests of children or others in foster homes or othsr dependent situations. Sometimes she is the only consistent person in children's lives. I understand the kindness and compassion that she has to do that. Her acceptance of me also changed my life.

Hi and welcome, it's good that you are here. So sorry for what you have been through. This is a good place to get more confident , though some can be blunt or judgemental which can be part of our style of seeing things for some here. People who use that approach here usually mean well just are being overly direct, maybe forgetting to ask more about what the poster is up against, or not realising how complicated things can be. Mostly we are positive to each other! I hope you enjoy it here, and find it useful and supportive.
