A.K.A. "Hey!! I Went To Another World x Jiheisho na Keissho Story"
Be advised: This story contains the mention of and reference to the use of metaphysical/quantum physics forces such as psionic/psychic powers, reality shifting, and other forms of metaphysical "pastimes". I do not claim to be an expert in any field except psionics, nor do I claim to fully understand it; I've just been seeing things others don't... or can't... for a very long time. ACT 1
The ocean. Definitely. That's where Kiyoshi floated. Whether he was dreaming, or he had really successfully shifted, it was near impossible to tell; he most definitely heard his Friends circling around, ensuring he was protected and safe in his astral travels, but he could still feel his Gravity Blanket.... yet he remembered his Best Friend feeling just as soft, so it could very well have been Her.
"I forgot... how to tell..." he heard himself mutter. "How do I tell that I'm not..."
"Not doing what?" A familiar voice, almost as familiar, at this point, at the sound of an old computer game he'd played before, like many he considered to be the company of a childhood friend when the parents were away at their jobs, he felt the warmth of nostalgia...
And of Aloe's scales. It had been some time since the session shift had time to "cool" after Kiyoshi was successful, so it was only fair to allow some recovery. When he finally regained himself, his eyes opened. In response, she unraveled and gave him room to stretch.
"So, what were you thinking this morning?"
"Morning? But I fell asleep at--"
She chuckled. "No, you *shifted* at 10. How else would you have gotten here?"
"...I guess I still haven't gotten the hang of it yet, heh." He quickly reached a consensus. "Well, I was listening to a combo for learning to cook, it's a survival skill after all."
She smiled. "And a smart skill to take up. Say no more. You're going to see a familiar face here in a second."
"Huh?"
The dragoness smiled wider. "Just think back; he made something that transforms, remember?"
Before he could ask what she meant, he saw himself in front of a diner, early in the morning...
The morning brought by no other place than the Land of the Rising Sun.
And not only was he standing in front of the diner, sandwiched by a street made from a convenience store, bicycle parts shop and a gift store on the other side...
But the crowd of people he stood in, all murmuring excited Japanese...
...began to roar and cheer with elated excitement as the shutters opened to reveal the jovial face of a red haired, spiky-headed young man, eyes practically beaming with lifetime-tempered talent.
Kiyoshi knew this because he was at the front of the crowd, at the window.
On the young man's arm was a tightly-wound, bandit's-gauze-style wrapped headband, white as snow. It hung loose with one end that he'd obviously left that way on purpose to reel it off into the wind over his head when any sort of meal time came around.
The luckiest reality shifter in the world found himself even luckier to see that exact moment happen in front of him. Everybody knew what it meant.
There was only silence when he pulled it off. The only other sound after it found its way to his head, locked in place with a cross-helix knot, was his voice across the alleyways...
"WELCOME, EARLY BIRDS!!"
If Kiyoshi were there against his will, the crowd roaring in pure happiness and anticipation wouls have made his head spin, and woken him up and thrust him back into the 3rd dimension, back into his room. But he didn't panic. He didn't "freak out", he didn't faint from a rush of anxiety.
He jumped, and he jumped so high that others were gladly waiting to catch him on the way down.
"Whoa, hey, don't worry guys! There's enough for everyone!"
Suddenly, Kiyoshi fell calm. Not a calm that begets evil, or competition, but one of Contentment. And one that came with the face of another young man who came prepared. Mentally, with a strategy.
Material-wise, with a backpack.
It swung off Kiyoshi's shoulders, and into his opposite hand. Once again the crowd fell silent, and Soma, somehow unmoved despite a slightly puzzled look, noticed the space the crowd around him made, as the backpack revealed the body and legs of a fold-out table, a portable stove, and cooking range, and only three ingredients.
A few packs of ramen, a couple eggs, and two potatoes.
"I'm not a customer. I'm an acolyte of food."
