It has more atmosphere, not to mention content. As in, there's a lot of juicy meat on that bone. :)

It's all so subjective though, which is part of the problem with horror games. The horror genre is... I guess you could call it "splintered", as there are many concepts that create the actual horror elements, yet many of them are not only entirely seperate from one another, but also completely clash.

For me, something like Evil Within wouldnt work as a horror game. Just like how much of the RE series doesnt... there's no scare factor there. I mean, I'm sorry, but when I have crossbows or freaking rocket launchers and can just clobber the rampaging demon monsters, they really just arent very threatening (there are exceptions though). Doesnt help that games along that line tend to have this idea that horror always = gore. What also doesnt help is the canned cutscenes that a lot of "major" horror games tend to have... usually takes me out of the experience.

Amount of content also isnt *necessarily* a major factor in whether or not something is good. Rather, it's a factor in how much money its worth. Many of my favorite horror games are actually super short. Games like Umfend (which is my personal favorite so far) or Open House.

And then of course there's the games where the theme just goes so wildly away from the norm that they're hard to categorize... Duskers, for instance, or the absolute bizarrity that is Golden Light.

Sorry, I could ramble on about this genre for ages, really. Been into it for awhile and there are a lot of design aspects that I find to be fascinating, yet at the same time I'm darned picky about them.
