The Last of Us

Do you want a remake?

Supposedly, Naughty Dog is going to release a remake, this year in fact. There's also the TV adaption coming to HBO, also in 2022 I believe.

The first two games are excellent. I don't care what anybody says about Abby. She's a strong character...

Not a fan of Abby myself - I find it hard to sympathize with and admire a character who kills one of the main characters from the first game by shooting him before bludgeoning him to death with a golf club.
She may be physically strong, but she's still a despicable human being in my opinion; no matter how much the game goes out of its way to make me try and care for her afterwards.
(It's even worse considering the fact that Joel literally saves her from the infected before she proceeds to cave his skull in).

Still, if you like her regardless, fair enough - to each their own.

As for whether it should get a reboot, I'd say no; it's way too soon for that. It's already had a remaster back in 2014, so what do they intend to do in a remake?

I’m surprised that they’re considering a remake, unless it’s for next gen and even then probably not a good idea whilst there’s a shortage of PS5s....I know there’s a tv show coming, that will be interesting to see how that goes.

I don`t know what that is but God no, no more remakes. Enough. A remake is never better than the original so why bother.

That's debatable about remakes always been worse that the originals - with the remakes of True Lies, Scarface and A Fistful of Dollars arguably doing the ideas so much better that some people didn't even realize that they were remakes.
That said, it's generally more one-sided to the originals been better than their remakes, so I see your point and I agree that Last of Us shouldn't get one.

I am concerned that Naughty Dog will end up like Capcom.

In recent years, Capcom put out two remakes of Resident Evil titles. One a well received, but still flawed game, and the other, was an absolute travesty.

And like you say, the originals are always the best, and for a good reason. This smells of a cash grab, which is sad, because Naughty Dog are renowned for their passion.

Never played it (can't afford/wouldn't waste money on a console anyway) but I saw a play through.

I think its one of the rare games that will work even better on TV as a medium. Sadly already knowing the major story beats, that are unlikely to change, I'm not sure I'd be interested in the TV show.

I guarantee you, a cash grab is exactly what it is. It’s not even a question. Keep in mind, no matter how skilled a developer may be, and regardless of their passion, those that deal with larger publishers have essentially made a deal with the devil… and they are now bound by those terms and controlled by executives who could not give less of a fart about anything other than money. This is why the recent remake of Grand Theft Auto came out as an absolute bloody disaster.

This particular cash grab is even more ridiculously blatant than these often are. A remake of a game that is so recent? Really? I just… uuuuuuuuuugh

I've been telling Resident Evil fans that for years, dude, and they never listen... :p

UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE!

This should sum up what they want today.
