THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT.............ON HAIR.

Grumpy Cat

Well-Known Member
After going out today (IN PUBLIC ) with wet hair, it came to my attention that my long hair might be starting to become a problem. My hair is 3/4 down my back and very thick so it takes a wee bit of time to dry and style.

My question is do you prefer long or short hair on a person?
(And anything else about hair you'd like to add such as color or styles)

Shoulder length on me or most others. It just looks right. I think it's because of Atreyu in the movie.

Well, for my hair, I need it short. If I get much beyond a crewcut it becomes very uncomfortable. (Ease of care is just a bonus.)

On women? I like bobs for some reason. o_O

Do you ever accidentally eat your own hair when your eating something ? I hated putting it up in a pony tail :|

This is why I became bold and went bald lol I might get it styled when it grows out a little ...

Yes I do! In fact some of it ended up in my mouth with my salad tonight (I have a fan on in the room.) And that's why I hate wearing lipstick cause the wind always blows my hair onto my lips and it sticks there (very attractive I'm sure).

There sure are a lot of bald Aspies. My Aspie friend has that same look.

Over the years I've had super long hair, dreads, a mohawk, a shaved head, and various lengths and styles in between. Right now I have a simple bob. All my previous styles had their merits, as does the one I have now, but mainly they're just about what I liked at the time :)

I think the type of haircut depends on the person. Some people look good with short hair, some look good with long hair.

I'm not terribly fond of short hair on women, but I guess that still depends on the overall look.

My own hair at the moment... it's quite long, perhaps too long and I probably should cut it, though I have no idea what to do. And cutting it shorter but still "long" seems bit of an unnecessary effort. I've had a lot of different haircuts in the past, anything from bald to beyond shoulder length, mohawks and a few random creations including the so-called "skrillex haircut" though way, way before it was a thing and the list goes on.

I do tend to favor the less conventional haircuts I guess. Mohawks are fine with me as are a few other ones that include partial shaving (probably also includes any variation of a mohawk; trihawks etc.) As for colors; I've had most colors from bright green to pink, purple, blue and then some as well as the more regular colors like brown and black. Add in that I've had a 50/50 split right down the middle with one side bleached blonde and one black while having shoulder length hair... I think I've been around with haircuts and haircolors.

Though aside from as a kid, I've never visited a hairdresser or anything. I dye and cut my own hair, which surely saves up a bit. It's also why my haircut looks like crap now, lol. I just have no clue what to do with it.

I think every haircut has it's pro's and cons. Bald saves a bit with washing hair, lol, but if you're like me, you're using a razor every day to keep it hairless since I hate stubbles on my head like that, lol. Colors tend to bring the issue that they fade eventually, especially the bright ones, though my experiences with peroxide type mixtures do have way, way better results than some other things I've used. I've been thinking about a mohawk but I don't think I'd be that interested in the maintenance at the moment. I've considered dreadlocks for a bit as well but that brought me an entire debate on color. I think white dreadlocks look awesome, but with all the bleach I could just as well get fake ones, heh.

Even though I said "I'm not fond of short hair on women"... I do sometimes get overly annoyed by my girlfriends long hair which is slowly on the way to cover her butt. I'm already a bit of a wild sleeper, so it's inevitable that every once in a while, when sleeping I'll get the "You're on my hair!" issue. To me that's when hair becomes an unpractical issue for others.

My hair is ultra fine which might sound good but the truth is the fineness makes it unruly and it will not grow beyond a certain length. During my hippie days I could never grow it long because it would just get to a certain length and then break off.

So, for me it is short hair all the time and that's OK.

I have been shaved and had hair half way down my back. Mine is now a well groomed length to suit my Aspieness.
On women's hair, I like it long. At least shoulder length. I love to look at hairstyles and it is one of the first things I see on a woman. I do not like when a woman cuts her hair really short. I have only ever seen two women that look good this way.

One thing I wanted to add is I don't like when a guy has longer hair than me - unless he's Indian. :)

I like a guy to have short hair and styled.
I also like bald. (You know who you are that I'm speaking of.) ;)

I like short hair on some women, but in general I´m atracted to long hair on men and women. I understand it can be uncomfortable though. Mine is long, to half my back, and I don´t do much with it really.

Hmm, I like hairstyles that look good on the person. My hubby looks uber hot with short hair and clean-shaven, but then at the moment he has hair longer than mine (with curls) and a beard, which is SUPER hot also.

My hair has always been long and i prefer it that way, though i rarely have it down. To put it down would require me to straighten it which requires time in the morning i just don't have most days. I usually just put mine up.

When my Mother was dying from aggressive breast cancer i quit cutting my hair so she could have a wig made from one of her children's hair...she lost her battle before I could deliver...I continued to let it grow and donated it to the Locks of Love program for cancer kids...I am on my fourth crop now and it is about halfway down my back at present...it is a pain in the butt to take care of,but rewarding to know it might make a child feel better to look normal after chemo treatment baldness...My hair is still a little brunette, straight and grows like weeds...the present crop only took three years and a half to grow out of my shaven head after my skull was sectioned... My favorite female hair is brunette, long and straight as was my Mama's

I've had long hair, short hair, even buzzed hair (a chelsea, which I will never regret just for the fact I got to feel the breeze on my scalp for the first time ever... ahhhhhhh that felt so great). Right now I'm working on seeing how long I can get it to grow. It's like halfway down my back now. 3b curls (Shirley Temple ringlets), high porosity. I usually flat iron it twice a week though to help keep it a little easier to maintain and less likely to suffer damage/breakage from tangles and combing.

am completely disconnected to humans and visualy & mentaly see them as all the same generic object and worth but do have an issue with hair on self as am acutely affected by the itching and because am a padded helmet wearer it needs to be kept very short due to the itching it causes.
have got electric clippers,it took years to get to the point of being able to tolerate them, first starting with scissors, then trying a razor but woud often take much of the scalp off and end up covered in blood because am unable to feel pain.
next had moved up to manual clippers that people once all used before electric was widespread [the exact same clippers are still sold in equestrian stores for horses that are noise sensitive],then finaly moving up to electric clippers-it took a long time to sit through a session without suffering from severe challenging behavior but now am able to clip hair by self, will use no guards so its on the shortest setting, then afterwards will use shaving foam on head and use a razor to shave the rest off.
-will do this every few days because its thick ginger hair which grows very quickly.

I have long hair, ever since I can remember. Care can be a real chore, and I sometimes wish I had it as short as my husband, especially when it needs washing or when I'm outside and the wind blows from the wrong direction . . . But then I never had short hair, and the thought is somewhat scary o_O

Just wondering what the problem with going out in public with long wet hair is? Everyone here does it all the time. But maybe in 30 degree C plus heat it's not a problem?

I think most girls/women look better with longer hair, if they look after it! I had long hair from around 6-7 until I was 14, and had it cut really short since I didn't get how to look after it properly and it would just tangle and look gross. Big mistake, I would get mistaken for a boy all the time since I dressed boyish anyway! Took forever to grow it out, and I now have longer hair past my shoulders - I definitely take better care of it now, but don't like wearing it up at all.
