The Music That Makes It Worth It To Be Put On Hold When Calling the Doctor's Office

Since the first time I heard it, about eighteen years ago, while trying to schedule a well baby visit at the County Health Department, this song has been a good reason to be put on hold. They serenade you with a little 1980's synthpop concert.

It's so good, that when they finally pick up, you almost forget why you called.

I didn't realize other people loved this song as much as I did until I looked it up on YouTube. It's Cisco's "Opus 1". It came to be back in 1989, when two 16 year old boys created it on a 4 track in their garage. One of the boys went on to work for Cisco, and the rest is history.

Just the phrase "hold music" makes my blood boil.

Some customer service contacts are incredibly stressful. Overly loud muzak that goes on for 45 minutes to an hour or more...depending on how long it takes to make a connection with a humanoid.

Finally another Opus 1 enjoyer. It's a good song.

I heard someone say putting popular songs in Dance Dance Revolution (yes they're still making them) was pointless because when they put the R&B song Torn in, no one played it. They were talking like it was a huge hit but I've only ever heard it on hold for the bank...
