The near-death experience of Jane Thompson

Was declared clinically dead twice and was obviously brought back, so yes, been there, done that, burned both of the t-shirts :D

Were you aware of anything during your presumed clinical death?
There was no presumption about it, I died twice on an operating table while undergoing emergency surgery for a traumatic brain injury. They resuscitated me two times after my heart quit beating and my breathing shut down.

Because of the proposed outcome of my recovery, I was written off as a scrap human and a few days later removed from life support by my family.
They knew I would never want to live as a vegetable in a wheelchair, so they made their hardest decision ever to just let me go. A couple of weeks later, I came out of my coma and came back to torment the world a little longer :p

I guess they had already picked out a nice box for me and started to make arrangements for my trip to the afterlife, but I ruined all of their plans. My ex, a floral designer was handed my riding boots so they could become a part of my send-off.

I still wear 'em and have the scooter I was on the night I got busted up. In fact, the old Harley came out of it with less damage than I did and I actually got to saddle it up again just two years after my crash :D

I honestly remember nothing about the entire incident because all of the memory tapes were erased from about an hour or so before the accident.

Thank you.
One of the best NDE vids I have watched.

Not all doctors and nurses disagree with NDE's.

I forget the name of the doctor, but there was one I read about online who gave accounts of people's NDE's.

I think he might have been a surgeon.

I watched something awhile back and I think it was a surgeon who was talking about how research seems to now show that after a person dies their mind continues to work for up to several hours. He said research suggest people are still aware and can think and they're aware that they're dead. He said brain cells don't all die in an instant en masse but instead die off gradually.

Should the situation come up again in my life, it made me want to ensure that I stay with a recently deceased loved one for a time rather than getting up and walking out on them as soon as their heart beats for the last time.

That sounds a bit strange. I’m pretty sure the brain is completely dead after seven minutes without oxygen. Plus, scientists don’t understand consciousness or where—and if—it is located within the brain, so having active brain cells for seven minutes after death doesn’t mean that the person is conscious or aware in any way in a physical sense during that time. It’s all very mysterious.

I'm sure I've read stories of people being deprived of oxygen a lot longer than 7 minutes, being revived and having no serious cognitive damage.

I’m sure you have. I heard one the other day about a lady who had been dead in an emergency room for quite a while, to the point that her skin was gray and she had started to stink, when suddenly she sat up, spoke a few words, and then laid back down and died.

Oh I know him! I listened to an interview with him on a paranormal-themed radio show once.

I've read his book, "Proof of Heaven". One of the most interesting accounts of near death experiences, particularly explained by a scientific/medical professional.
