The Undateables is back tonight!

Topic.

9 PM on Channel 4 in the UK.

I applied to go on it but I obviously live too far North for the South Coast bias of the show.

I was turned down because the makers said they wanted a line-up that reflects the diversity of the British population (or words to that effect). And I don't live on the south coast either.

Funny how the protagonists never get told "Relationships are no big deal", "You're too young to worry about having a boyfriend/girlfriend", "Relationships come along when you least expect it" or "Just join a club" etc etc.

Quite apart from the southern coastal bias, are the women who go on the Undateables all expected to have a sister or friend to help them with their hair and make-up? That would rule me out. I never did that female bonding thing when I was younger, probably never will. :(

When the show is back on, can someone bump this thread and let me know. Thanks. :)
If you register with Channel 4, you can set a reminder on the programme website - look for the bell symbol with the words "Remind me" below it. The reminder (by email) usually arrives early on the day of the first showing of each episode. It may also be worth checking the Radio Times website for repeats, as Channel 4 don't supply this information. (Probably other listings magazines publish this information too, but the RT happens to be the one I'm most familiar with.)

The Undateables is back tonight (Monday 10 September, 21:00 BST, Channel 4).

In the latest episode: The award-winning series returns with more singletons looking for love, including film buff Charlotte, who has Asperger's, and Mitch, who was born deaf and lip reads when dating. (S9 Ep1/3)

That'll be only the second time an autistic woman has appeared on The Undateables as a main participant (as opposed to one of the matches). The previous one was Heather in the second series: Series 2 episode 4: Heather, Gareth & Matthew

I watched the show last night, recorded it Monday night.

That guy who was dating the girl from Lincolnshire, eh? He had issues with being hugged and he wants a girlfriend? How's that work?!

Meh, I might apply again for the next series, although I've already done so, twice, and been turned down

Well I just emailed them via their website and they sent me an application form for the next series.

People who don’t like being touched can have a relationship too. I don’t like being hugged unless I’ve given my express permission, but I’m perfectly capable of sustaining a long term relationship.

Sounds like a reverse of the Alex-Eloise scenario. Be interesting to see how this pans out...

Is it a requirement of The Undateables that participants must not have used dating agencies / websites before? I don't recall ever hearing one say something along the lines of: "I haven't had much luck with internet dating, so I'm seizing this opportunity to use Flame Introductions for free"? Maybe that would sound too grasping.

Meh, I'm on POF and Tinder and have had matches on both, but it's the same problem as the Undatables, most of the matches live too far South for me, like I had one recently from Southampton.

I watch the show sometimes but I have to say I don't like the cynical undertones of the show's title tbh. Same goes for Benefits Street. I think theres a veiled cruelty in the titles. I don't know if its the producers or people high up in channel 4 that came up with the titles.

ATTENTION!!!!!!

The Undatables is back on tonight on Channel 4 in the UK. Series 1 of 5.

I’m excited! :D

“Return of the series following extraordinary singletons as they search for romance. A man with Asperger’s longs to find a partner to share his life with, and a woman with Downs Syndrome dreams of meeting a religious family man.”

Sorry if I confused others by saying it was on Channel 5. It’s not. I edited it so you all know it’s Channel 4. :)

So, it’s on again the same time for the next four Wednesdays on Channel 4.

Is it just me or is the Channel 4 reminder function not working any more? I can't remember the last time I received an email from them.

Anyway, back to the latest episode... Let me get this straight: Sam the royal fan is only 19 but his mother says he's getting on a bit and role-plays being his date. Blimey - Sigmund Freud would have a field day!
