Hi,

New to the site. Now 46 and life experiences and gut feeling tells me I am an Aspie. I have an intense dislike of noisy environments, have no ability for small talk, an acute sense of right and wrong and poor communication but an extreme sense for fair play and altruism. I have been an electronics engineer for over 20 years but causes me daily stress. Having finally worked it out I feel a bit deflated and isolated in a world organised for non aspies. Hope that this site can remove some of this sense of isolation!

Greetings and welcome aboard :)

Welcome to the forums.

As the majority of the people here, we do seek out to understand more about ourselves and how to deal with situations such as the ones you have been through for a long time.

I, along with the others give you a warm welcome and will do our best to help you figure out more about yourself. We hope that you will find what you are looking for.

Welcome. I am a lot like that too, so I can relate. Hope you enjoy spending time with us.

Thanks for all the replies. Feels good to know that there are like minded people of similar type. What is the best way to use this site?

I think all members have their own way of using it so we wouldn't get much consensus. :D

My recommendation is to go to the Forums page and browse around to see if something interests you. You can also look at the black toolbar at the top of the Forums page and find the Recent Activity tab, and check that to see stuff people are talking about right now.

You can use the Inbox to have private conversations, too.

The Resources section has reviews on books, films, etc., about Autism and AS.

When you make a post on a thread and people reply or rate your posts ('Like', etc.) you'll automatically get alerts to tell you.

If you want to upload an avatar or add a signature to your posts, you can do that on the MIKER tab at the top right.

hope this helps! :)
