Thoughts On The Autistic Culture Podcast?

I don’t know how many people know about the podcast

I personally find it interesting as it’s a good podcast to kill time

I find the episodes too long but for the most part I do other things when I listen to them

There are some things I don’t like though, they criticize ableism, which is a problem but they can go overboard

They also say some harsh things about neurotypicals. As Matt Lowry puts it, normies. I don’t think neurotypicals are problematic. Sure some are jerks but many are good too. I found myself adapting to the world and doing better as a result

What do you guys think of it, if you guys heard of it? I find it interesting, disagree with many of the ideas

I haven't heard of it. Though from how you describe it. I may avoid it. It sounds like autistics using a podcast to air thier problems with the world, in a 'look at me'/'take pity on me fellow autistics' display.

Not to say that people shouldn't listen, if it's thier cup of tea.

Apparently some people say it’s elitist

I say take a listen, then decide if you want to continue

I have a friend who listened to an episode, but quit due to their attitude

Is this podcast on YouTube, another video service(ie: Twitch, dailymotion, etc.) or a separate enitity on it's own website?

Tried listening to it, gave up. Victim culture doesn't work for me. I get along fine with many NTs, just need to back away from them when I am at my limits and the ones I am close to get that.

I agree with @velociraptor. Victim culture is toxic, as it can come off a bit narcissistic. If anything, my personal biases tend to come off more elitist, but more intended to keep things positive rather than negative. "Why would I want to be like a neurotypical? Neurotypicals are responsible for all manner of bad outcomes."

My personal thoughts are that I will never be neurotypical, for better or worse. I play to my strengths. I don't get myself concerned with trying to be like others, nor do I give much thought to what I cannot do. I like my "Microsoft vs Mac" operating system analogy where I may be able to do similar things, but I may not do it the way someone else does it.

I was a competitive powerlifter for many years and the interesting thing about powerlifting, there is no category for "disabled" lifters. I've seen lifters roll up in wheelchairs, hop up on a bench and push 500lbs off their chest. I've seen soldiers with their legs blown off, now wearing prosthetic legs deadlifting 500lbs off the ground. I've seen elderly folks, post knee and hip replacements, so much arthritis in their hands they can barely wrap their hands around the bar, lifting some serious weight. Very inspirational. The powerlifting mantra is "Ignore what you can't do and focus on what you can do." I've torn leg muscles, arm muscles, back muscles, chest muscles, etc. in the gym and then simply moved on to other body parts and kept going. No victims. No excuses. Keep moving forward. The original 1980's Terminator movie with Arnold Schwarzeneggar, the robot keep moving forward, on a mission, and nothing was going to stop it. Be a Terminator.

I just listened to their latest episode. You are right. I’m consider quitting

Too cringey and too stereotypical, something I dislike
