Hello. I am 19 years old.
I don't talk very much. I think a lot, though.
I'm attempting to join the U.S. Airforce. I want to be an electrician.
I'm very empathetic, but it's hard for me to connect with others, so I prefer to be left alone.

I like to read about psychology, cosmology, chemistry, and religion.

Welcome! You're making a very smart move. If I were young like you, I would've done the same thing and would never have gone to college. I bought into the lie that college guarantees good employment. Trades pretty much guarantee someone will be employed for the rest of their lives. I went to college for a degree in Criminal Justice because I thought it was interesting. Ended up working in various forms of IT and truck driving. Now at 40, I am a Security Guard. I will have to pretty much depend on being able to do this because I would not be able to work a retail job or office job. Don't get me wrong, I like the security work but it is a hand to mouth existence.

I read your Graveyard Shift post, and I'm kind of jealous. I'd love to do something like that if I'm rejected.

I am quite certain that it is possible but most security firms want people 21 or older - it's not necessarily the law but it is an insurance thing. May I ask where you live?

If you decide that the air force is not for you, then you could look into becoming a commissioned security officer. In Texas, this means that you carry a firearm and other weapons. I live in Pennsylvania and we have something called Act 235 which is sort of the same thing. It is a license to carry a firearm as an incidence of employment. When I was researching the career, I decided to go armed because the pay and job opportunities are better.

I will keep that in mind!

Welcome to the forum.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I don't talk much either and I think a lot too.
Overthink, I think.
But, I sure can ramble in these posts here sometimes.

Welcome!

Why the AF instead of the other branches?

Not sure his reasons, but from my experience AF is best choice for someone with ASD, and electronics also a good choice. I spent 20 years as electronics technician in AF.

Anyway, Welcome TheBigElectron
