Today I learned... silly edition

You know, that one lady we met that one time.

Today I learned that the director of Home Alone thought it would be too cruel to photograph a teen girl for the photo of Buzz's girlfriend, so he had the art director's teenage son dress up in a wig and make a goofy face.

What's a funny fact that you learned today?

You can talk to the postman, he is human. Lol
But he has a heavy hand and broke my little troll door on mailbox. But l opened and closed it several times in front of him. Now l have zip ties holding on the door to trolldom, and l just have been lazy to order new one which means removal of old and install new, which means me buying a drill probably or hiring too talkative neighbor handyman and both of these solutions are making me sweat green slime. :)

That is so nice, home alone is actually a really beautiful movie so it makes sense he would be nice.
That is why people like it, your family may drive you crazy but you love them.

I have no funny facts and wish I had the memory atm for them.
I learn things here and there sometimes

That these kinds of songs exist. Presenting a Slayer/ B52s mashup. Yes Slayer and B52s. And I freaking love it.

Learned a new expression. Catsplaining. It's like mansplaining, but with cats.

All I have is in my head now is a cat meowing at someone and that person says "Stop catsplaining". And the cat says "okay".

I learned that Gilroy, CA, is the garlic capital of the world.

And they have garlic ice cream there. Mmmmm, garlic. 😄

I genuinely am unsure if I should be more intrigued or disgusted by this revelation with the ice cream. lol

I learned that North Carolina's nickname is "The Tar Heel State".

Don't know why though, or what that means. 🤔
Must do some googling.

I think all 50 of the United States has a nickname. My state of Mississippi is the magnolia state, named for the gorgeous native magnolia trees that grow here. It also is often called the hospitality state. Southern hospitality is legendary.

Understandable. I've been in Nevada now for almost sixteen years and still don't understand the term "Battle Born" relative to our state flag (not the state motto).

I know what it is claimed to mean, but I just find the explanation a bit lame given that Nevada as a territory chose to officially support the Union at a time (1864) when the outcome of the War Between The States was inevitable.

While there was a certain amount of intrigue between the two sides this far west, there were no actual battles to speak of. Nevada was "born" as a new state of the union, but not in battle. Those "laurels" belong to other states who paid for that war in blood.

Perception I suppose....especially having been raised in Virginia. One of the places I lived in was Union by day, and often Confederate by night. When war was on on my town's front door night and day. Funny to recall each summer they used to temporarily paint double lines in the streets using blue and grey. We even had a war grave in our neighborhood just down the street.

I like Oregon's nickname, "The Beaver State". 🙂 And Missouri, "The Show-Me State".
