Trying to find answers

Hi. I’m self-diagnosis Asperger’s. I’m waiting until I can get to a therapist to see if I truly am or if something else is going on. But so much of what I’ve read about it describes me, how I feel and what I do. Here to find more answers and to compare my experiences to see if I’m correct in my assessment. And if so maybe begin to learn how to manage since my whole life is impacted. Thank you to anyone who read this.

As far as stimming, I only rock when I’m Extremely upset and agitated and seemingly like I’m having an emotional meltdown of crying and yelling.

I compulsively pick my finger skin around my nails- I heard that was stimming too? Used to suck my thumb still do on occasion but when I started smoking cigarettes that urge kinda went away. Ugh and I’m 40. But these struggles I’ve had all my life and it’s cost me relationships and respect at work from coming unglued from unexpected change or very stressful situations.

I’m often told I’m complicated, I over complicate everything. I get easily confused if directions aren’t clear. When overwhelmed I’ve spoken flatly making folks think I’m upset with them when I’m just overwhelmed and trying not to show it.

But, I have this great personality and can make five minute friends as a tour guide. But I can’t maintain past that. Can’t make and keep friends in my personal life. Everyone thinks I’m warm and I am but only for a short time when necessities call for it- I can be quite cold to others extreme emotion. I don’t like to be touched really. I startle very easily.

Seeking answers until I get to s professional. My step brother has Asperger’s.

Thank you again to anyone who took the time to read.

Sorry so long, I talk too much and over explain a lot. Just seeking answers.

Welcome human!
Paragraph is literally me, but everyone here is nice and kind, whether you think you have it, or if you have an expensive piece of paper saying you're not crazy.
