trying to understand Bible verses

Proverbs 23:7New King James Version (NKJV)
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
“Eat and drink!” he says to you,
But his heart is not with you.

It means that a person may say one thing to you,
but the words may not reflect his true feelings.

Formalities/social niceties/acting *appropriately* may
be a cover up.

Oh ok, you're right. I thought it had something to do with thinking with the heart instead of the mind.

And that deep down what you think you become.

What does this quote mean:

2 Corinthians 10:3-5King James Version (KJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Thank you.

Although they are humans [flesh] the strength of Christians
is not based on physicality.

The strength of a Christian is reliance upon Jesus, the name of
God on Earth. God is a title, not a name.

Obedience to/reliance upon/ faith in God is the way to confront
unholy/unwholesome things/habits.

I see. For me I am trying to get the gist of things. I like to try to stick with small amount of scripture to try to comprehend before moving onto longer scripture.

What does this mean:

King James Bible
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

we = humans
wrestle = struggle
not against flesh & blood = not with physical foes
but against principalities, against powers...etc = evil in spiritual form

Omg. I like how you dissected that very simple.

I want to know how my thoughts work. Where they come from and who controls them ultimately.

Would like to get into feelings later.

I think it is a feedback loop. You think and then the thoughts shoot out chemcials because they are good or bad. Then the chemicals make you think bad or good thoughts.

I don't know what came first. I think probably sensory input caused a feeling which caused thought which caused feeling................it is exhausting!
