I think a few of us have had times where we've watched a film/tv series or played a game and wanted to know more about events and/or individuals before the events you see.
While its pretty much a given that the majority of prequels are never as good as the originals they spawned from, they can be interesting and offer more insight into what we already knew (or at the very least from a certain point of view).
I've seen a few prequels that I liked; For movies, I enjoy the Star Wars Prequels as, despite all the hate they get from fans, the prequels had better fights, a great musical score, some good scenes - such as the opening of episode 3 and Anakin's reaction to Padme's pregnancy news - along with some funny stuff such as Obi-Wan mind-tricking the death-stick dealer to "go home and re-think his life" and seeing Yoda dueling with a lightsaber among other things. Another movie prequel I like was Bambi II, which takes place in-between the events of Bambi's childhood (following the death of his mother but before he has grown into an adult), with Disney really trying to recapture the style of the original despite the technological advances and trying to nail the voices down with the actors/actresses, which I think it succeeds with for the most part.
For TV, I enjoyed BBC's Walking with Monsters. Following on the previous entries in the series (Walking with Dinosaurs, Walking with Beasts and Walking with Cavemen), Walking with Monsters was a 3-episode series that served as a prequel to the previous series by showing how Earth became suitable for life, before showing the evolution of life millions of years before the dinosaurs appeared. It also covered how we humans would eventually evolve - covering the development of eyes, our backbone, senses, memory, our heart and other organs, etc.
For video games, the God of War prequels such as "Ascension", "Chains of Olympus" and "Ghost of Sparta" have all been pretty good and helped to expand the God of War franchise on the Playstation, while another pre-sequel I liked was Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - a game set after The Phantom Menance but before Attack of the Clones and which focuses on the bounty hunter Jango Fett; exploring how he became the template for the clone army as well as how he met Zam Wessell, how he got his ship 'Slave-I' and how his son Boba Fett from the original trilogy came about.
As such, are there any TV Shows/Movies/Video Games you'd want to see prequels/pre-sequels to?
To give you two examples from me.
1. Aquila: Based on the books by Andrew Norriss and adapted into a TV series by the BBC, Aquila tells the story of two boys who find an alien spacecraft underground while on holiday. After managing to get it home, the boys try to find out how everything works on the craft while going for many a joyride in it.
Here's the first episode:
My idea for it having a prequel is that - assuming you watched the episode or read the book - when the boys find Aquila initially, they also find the skeletal remains of a Roman Centurion. Aquila's backstory is that it's stated to be an escape pod that was jettisoned from an alien battle cruiser during a great war between two alien races thousands of years ago, while we learn from snippets in the book and show that the war occurred during the 3rd century (when the Romans were occupying Britain) and the pod crash landed in Britain before been found by the Roman Centurion, whose remains the boys later found and who was in his early 20's at the time.
We learn small bits and pieces about what he did between the book and show, which includes us seeing a 'recording' from Aquila of him stealing treasure from other Romans by killing them/knocking them unconcious, we hear in the show that he spent four days 'laying with some women' in Cirencester (I think we can all guess what that means) and the book reveals during the excavation of his remains that he visited Australia at some point as he brought an Aboriginal Boomerang back to Britain with him.
To see a prequel showing the life of this young Centurion, his discovery of Aquila and its alien occupant who escaped in it, and the adventures he gets up to in the time period as he flies around the world to different places and potentially beyond in an alien spacecraft would be at the very least a fun little escapade.
2. The Silmarillion: While I'm not a big fan of either the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit trilogies, I think having this adapted into a 'Game of Thrones' style TV series could actually work pretty well. The Silmarillion is a five part novel that takes place before the events of The Hobbit - with the five parts consisting of the following:

The Silmarillion is a five part novel that takes place before the events of The Hobbit - with the five parts consisting of the following:
- Ainulindalë; tells of the creation of Eä, the "world that is"
- Valaquenta; the second part, gives a description of the Valar and Maiar, the supernatural powers in Eä.
- Quenta Silmarillion; Forms the bulk of the collection and chronicles the history of the events before and during the First Age, including the wars over the Silmarils that gave the book its title.
- Akallabêth; relates the history of the Downfall of Númenor and its people, which takes place in the Second Age.
- Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age; A brief account of the circumstances which led to and were presented in The Lord of the Rings.
