Being aspie I am a creature of routine and going to the same places that I know. When I step back and look at the places I visit frequently multiple characteristics stand out: first it is known to me and second I am known to the place.
"I am known to the place"
As an aspie I know I can't survive or function in a place where I am criticized, devalued, demoralized, bullied, ignored.... In an environment like that we tend to turn inside, reflecting on negative and loneliness and we tend to implode or stagnate.
I don't need constant constructive validation from another, though I need a moment of recognition and validation as simple as a warm welcoming smile. That simple act warms my heart and opens my world for I am recognized.
What keeps you going? What keeps you moving forward?
