A mother-of-three is putting on a family fun day to raise awareness of autism and to generate money for charities.
Holly hopes to raise awareness of autism and aspergers
The Stand Out for Autism Family Fun Day at SportsAble in Braywick Road on March 28 is being organised by Holly Clarke, of Bell Street, Maidenhead.
Holly, whose three-year-old son Harry was officially diagnosed with autism six months ago, said: “We have been on a massive journey.
“From learning to live with autism to diagnosis, to getting Harry a placement at Manor Green, (a special school in Maidenhead) it’s been a long journey.”
The marketing executive at Baylis Media Ltd, which produces the Advertiser, is pulling the event together to help people understand the issues surrounding autism and to support the organisations that help people with the condition.
There will be stalls, arts and crafts, information zones for parents on what help they can get locally, food, a licensed bar, a tombola and a raffle.
Maidenhead United FC, The Bell pub and Spear Reflexology have already donated prizes. With Savs Bakes, Usborne Books, Phoenix Trading and the Papercup Kitchen cafe already signed up to have stalls as well.
A sensory room, a bouncy castle, and calming tents will be also running.
Holly is still looking for stallholders, singers, musicians and children’s entertainers to come too.
She added: “I’m looking for as many people to get involved as possible.”
Proceeds will go to the Thames Valley Adventure Playground in Taplow and Berkshire Autistic Society.
