I am getting tired of seeing pictures like this. They make me uncomfortable. Any idea as to why?

It looks pretty sexual to me. Do you think there’s some sort of sexual innuendo that you are picking up that makes you feel uncomfortable?

You can't define a category of images with one example.

FWIW, professional photographers don't create images at random. If you see something odd but vague in an image, and it's the kind of thing that attracts people's attention, then it's probably not an accident.

Thx!

I don't see any obvious pattern in those ones, nor do they seem similar to the current one.

They're all "over-saturated" and high-contrast of course, but that's very common in advertising images, magazines, online games, TV, etc.
IMG_1155.jpeg (at the link) is neither. The image is a bit chaotic though - some people don't like that.

FWIW my color resolution is better than average at the ROY end of the spectrum, and worse at the BIV end, so I might be missing something.

Makes me feeling uncomfortable too.

Innocent or not is the quesion? Were they put like that at random, or was it deliberate to play with the viewer and thus making them believe they have a dirty mind?

There are different pre existing pictures that are used to advertise things. Sometimes they’ll create a new picture or reuse the same picture from the previous ad. This picture appeared in last week’s ad as well

Know how some emojis have sexual connotations? That’s what I associate the picture with.
I haven’t kept track of what emojis suggest what, but I am aware that they have a secondary meaning. I’m sure I have made plenty of faux pas in this regard.

I wonder if the advertising company knows full well what they are doing and they choose these types of images just to be provocative. Perhaps going for humor? But it seems more like provocation. It is my understanding that there are entire teams of people with an education in marketing that devise material that will gain attention.

I like this answer.

You know, sometimes, it's just a picture of vegetables.

I know, I know, some people like to make innuendos, suggestions, and "subliminal" advertising. It's all in your attitude. For me, I just smile and roll my eyes at some of this. There's too many serious and important things in this world for me to be concerned about, and this sort of thing is not going to give me pause.

Someone might flip this back at you and suggest there might be something wrong with you if "your brain went there" when it was just vegetables.

I'm sure Sigmund would say you secretly hated your vegetables.

But I think the advertizing firm was just trying to make the point that gourds can be nonbinary too.

;)

Sometimes l am upset when young girls are positioned a certain way on a man's lap in commercials. It makes me wonder if something happened when l was younger or it brings up my trauma from my stepfather. It's a trigger for me. Brings up old wounds thar hurt.

reminds me of young girls that dress in crop tops.

Most commercial photographers (even avid amateur photographers) think very carefully how they photograph still life photos and arrange the items, which is what kind of photo this is...

A skilled still life photographer can do this very well... And this being a commercial photo, the "client" might have chosen/probably did make the ultimate choice
