Well Hello

Well.

I am 30 years old in Coastal Alabama, and I am not yet diagnosed. I wound up reading an article a few days about about someone with Asp. and realized I had so many similar traits. The past few days have been quite exciting. I have never known much about Asp. and it has shined a massive light on what I may have. In the past I have been diagnosed mostly with Anxiety, Depression and ADHD. My parents pushed me a great when I was younger and typically pointed to "its a phase", later in life I was able to get counseling on my own, which led to the above being diagnosed and alot of pill years in trying to get things under control. A'lot of things I have learned to control on my own, and my wife, well is a saint for dealing with me at times. By degree I am a computer programmer and an VP of IT operations.

I find it refreshing to know other people out there are as literal as I am, lol. I am starting to setup my first appointments this week for diagnosis. I have 2 daughters one which is 3, and which I think may have what I do, and its my main reason to get diagnosed so I can know what to expect and be able to work with her.

Good luck with your diagnostic process! I'm about to turn twenty-four and I was diagnosed in 2010 . . . in April or May, I think. I've always known that there was something different about my ability to socialize---something that seemed to be more than just awkward unpopularity. And three years later, I'm still learning new things about myself as they relate to AS!

Welcome!

I was diagnosed in the early 1990s, one of the very first female cases in my city. It's a cool bragging right.

I still discover things that are "aspie things" and not "me things". Then again, wouldn't they be the same? :laugh:
